I have found that momentum takes many forms, it can last a few minutes to a few months on different time frames. I have 2 methods, both methods are trading momentum bursts on the daily or hourly timeframe. For the daily i search for stocks witj new momentum on the weekly timeframe, then look fornthe first base on the daily timeframe, or i will search for strong momentum on tje daily chart, usually 1 to 2 days and look for a base breakout range expansion momentum bursts set up on the hourly chart. I habe to remind myself i am not holding for long and take profit.

What do you look for on the weekly chart?

@@darylwilliams6758 top gainers. Which stocks made the biggest move on high volume. For one week. Then usually if there is continuation on the weekly chart then a teadeable base can form on the daily chart. I habe mamy methods for searching for momentum, but all of my entries come from range expansion breakouts from bases.

Pradeep- I have been following your channel, educational videos for a long time. I find that you are among the best at providing valuable trading education. I’m 69 yo, retired physician, not yet consistently profitable- but studying,trading 8-10 hours/day. I cannot find that you have mentioned how you figure pre market price movement into your entry strategy for Momentum Burst. I only see mention of opening range break , or market open entries. Often the stock has made ijts major day1 move by market open. Please help, needing guidance asap! Thank you so much, Chris.

Momentum burst had a lot of form that we need to do our own research in hundreds to thousands example to get an edge before we could use it to make money.

Hi Pradeep. What is the significance of volume in momentum burst ? Sometimes I see stocks making 4%+ moves without big volume. I expected them to come down next day due to lack of volume, some came down but some kept going up. Do you consider volume when taking a momentum burst setup or you just purely go by your conviction. Second day can be a doji or red small or similar body red candle many times. Observation may be true for mother of all markets

That does not mean the stock is not going up for 3 to 5 days. This observation is true for any period in stock market since they started trading.

I sell 3/4 either when the price is over extended from the 10 ema after 3 days or so, or when it closes below the 10 ema. I will ride the 20 for the remainder, although im starting to see it may be more profitable to jist sell full position at 1st close below the 10

yes, i feel. i use EMA cross with10/20 and prefer it on weekly time frame
