Hi pool lines, I read your message to me regarding the Kreepy. I don't know why I can respond on some videos and not others. Hope this gets to you. Anyway, no worries, thank you for trying to get me one to 'test drive'. I'll keep my eyes open for them. Sometimes manufacturers will sell a product in one part of the country and not the other. I'll be sure to check it out if I find one. Thanks for your continued support! Lucy

A great big thanks. This pump has been kicking me in the backside. I have lost the destructions and had to come here to get it back right. I was getting ready to rip it out and go back to the original pump !! In Floridas heat once it gets off time for any reason the chemicals and run time is a really big deal. Thanks again !!!

Wayne Tillman Glad it helped, Wayne. As you can see, even I had to ask for assistance with setting this pump. I'm old school...guess I have to get used to them one of these days. Enjoy your summer! Lucy

Thanks for the tutorial ! It was very basic to to the point. I have a Sun touch controller that I. Believe is blocking me from running the pump manually. I'm not sure, I have to learn how to use The Sun Touch (I just moved into a home with both of these units, that are new to me) I know you did this video a few years back, but just a hint.. If you buy a $8.00 Rotation Polarization Filter for your camera/video recorder. You / we will be able to see the LCD screen clear as day! Without any pesky reflections that make it difficult to see in the video!! Only about $8-$12 at electronics store or Amazon . Normally just screws in front of lens or some snaps on. Then we can fully see what your doing and the screen looks like. (Just a suggestion!) thanks for the help!!

One individual pop-up head (non-step) handles 5gpm. Solar is also 5gpm. A 1/2HP Whisper Flow (non-variable speed), in many cases, moves 50-60 gpm....so, that's all one needs. A 1/2hp uses 4.4 amps. Run it 5 hours or so and you're good.

+Michael Good Everything that you said depends on where you live and what conditions you have to deal with. That would never work in Las Vegas. Sorry for the extremely late response. I had a hip replacement 6 months ago...7 months ago is when you wrote and I was on crutches. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write. You probably forgot about it. But if your input helps someone that doesn't live in an extreme environment, I'm all for that. Again, thank you...Lucy

Hello, question on this setting that was done on this video, i believe it all depends where you live, i live in L.A. California, is this setting pretending to this state or are you located in another state? here it doesn't get that cold to run the pump when is winter right? for spring and summer what do you recommend? also, you are right about the vacuum cleaner it needs more power to move it, this is my case as well, i have a 11k water size pool, do you think running the pump at 32k for two hours will do it and the rest at low speed for maybe 5 hours. thank you for your help.

+pilot0208 Sorry for the late response. I actually started my pool biz in Cali..San Fernando Valley. We would set Intermatic time clocks to run in the winter from midnight to six a.m. just in case there was an off chance of freezing weather. (nothing like staying up all night stressing about your clients' pipes freezing). Better to be safe than sorry...or install freeze protection. As far as the VSP running whatever hours to make the pool clean...it depends on too many variables. Bather load; temperature of water; cleaning system; filter size. Bottom line is that it's better to error on the side of caution in terms of VSP's i.e. run your system to achieve the maximum benefit to serve your client AND to assist in helping the pool stay clean and sanitized throughout the week. Pool confession...I do not subscribe to VSP's. For too many reasons to say here, in certain climates they do not function how the electric company wants to sell it. I will write more on this subject in the future. If you want to correspond more, write me at lucyspools@gmail.com It's much easier for me to contact you right away. Thanks for watching, hope this helps...Lucy

Hi I live in Orange county, Ca. What rpm do you recommend for summertime? Also, what time do you recommend to start and end? Thank you
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips 8 жыл бұрын
+Susan Nguyen Hi Susan...this is a very difficult question to answer as every pool situation is different. Because there are so many variables, (temperature of water; bather load; filter size, and age of water), and that they continue to change throughout the year, here is what I'd suggest...Before the summer months hit hard, program your pump to run at around 2800 rpm's for about six hours per day. As long as your water is clear, then you're good. If you notice that the water is cloudy, make sure the filter is clean and chems are balanced. If those are good, then you may need to either ramp up the rpms or up the hours per day. I apologize that I cannot give you a definitive answer, but this is the nature of the delicate balance of pools. Bottom line...it's better to error on the side of caution and run your pump at a higher rpm than to keep it running low and have to live with constantly dealing with cloudy, unsafe water. Thank you for your question. Happy swimming, Lucy P.S. Check out my website for more in depth articles regarding maintenance of pool water. www.lucyspools.com

+lucyspools Hi , I would to know what time should i set it up? E.g. 11 am -5pm? Thank you your time.
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips 8 жыл бұрын
+Susan Nguyen Sorry for the late response. Busy out here in Vegas. Personally, I like to split the time. E.g. 7 am-11-am...7 pm-11 pm. This way, if there are winds, the pool can get cleaned up for the evening. But it's up to you. In some states you pay less for power during the night. Not here in NV. As long as the pump is running about 8 hours in a 24 hour cycle (again depending on many factors), you should be ok. Lucy

lucyspools I just have a 3 hp pentair intelliflo pump but i don't know how to set it up so it is most efficient. my pool is a 10,000 gal and has a jacussy connected to the pool. We r new in this stuff :( can you help me by telling me what speeds should i use and for how long? btw we are in Miami

Hi Andrea...I just saw your message. As I suggested to Michael above you, I'd call Pentair 1-805-553-5000 The information you need to give them, besides gallons, is the size of your filter and if you have a cleaning system (in-floor or pool vac). Also tell them about your hot tub so they can help you set up a speed for when you want to use that. I wish I could help you more, but they will walk you step by step. More efficient that way. Lucy

Does this override your remote schedule?
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips 8 жыл бұрын
+Lee Jun When you say your "remote schedule", I'm not sure exactly what you mean. I know these pumps can and usually do override the previous time clock you may have had with your other pump. For instance, if you have an Intermatic time clock, once these are installed and are programmed then the Intermatic becomes useless in terms of turning the pump on. If I haven't answered your question please feel free to write back. Thanks for watching...Lucy

Aren't these pumps frustrating? I would recommend calling Pentair. 1-805-553-5000 I've been on the phone with them for two days in a row, thinking I've programmed a pump then not having it turn on at the set time. The good thing about them is they will walk you through the programming step by step. The wait time is around 20 minutes but it's worth the time spent. Lucy

Have you seen any of these pumps on a floor cleaning system? I thought this pump could be used on a floor system.
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips
@Lucyspools-diy-service-tips 8 жыл бұрын
+David Callahan Hi David...the problem with a variable speed pump and an in-floor cleaning system or a pool vac is that the rpm's must be programmed to the highest level. This is why I am not crazy about these pumps. Both cleaning systems need to have enough flow in order to function. It's a shame that the power companies continue to convince folks that these pumps are a great alternative. I think that I need to speak out about this situation a little more assertively. Thanks for your question, Lucy

I just uploaded a new explanation about variable speed pump programming. A representative from Pentair was on the phone and walked me step by step through the process. I encourage you to check that video out. You can find it on my channel, or soon I will post a direct link. I am confident it will help. Lucy
