How to program car remote without valet button

I have an Avital 4103 remote start alarm system. The shop that installed it did not install a valet button. I had to do a work around in order to program a new remote. I found the brain for the alarm and locate where the blue connector for the valet button should be. I made a probe out of a piece of wire to touch the prongs and go through the setup like using a valet button

Daughter home from college for holidays and remote start fob needed replacement. It arrived and not able to program, nothing in the purchase or researching stated that a valet switch was needed to program. Ordered valet switch and after 2 weeks it still had not been delivered. Daughter was to return to campus today so I gave it one more try to figure out. I came across your video and 5 minutes later everything was programmed and buttoned back up. She can now start her car remotely and have a warm and safe car . As a father I greatly appreciate this! Thank you again!

You are a life saver for this….bought a used car with no remote but had the system. Installers kept just saying I needed to get a whole new system installed. I got a remote off Amazon and used this video to program it. Paid 20$ instead of 500$!!!

Avital should pay you for this. Great video that helped. My remotes have been flaky for months. Finally replaced them, and after a couple hours of pulling my dash apart, I finally found the box, but no button. Found your video and it worked perfectly. I used a small screwdriver instead of wire. Awesome! After fumbling with several online "programming instructions" INCLUDING Avitals installation manual, this worked on replacement fobs for an Avital AviStart 4100 in a 2007 FJ Cruiser!! Lock, unlock and remote start all work! Thanks!

Exactly what i needed. If your horn isnt connected youll see one flash when its ready instead of hearing it. My program button was shot so i had to go in with a paperclip but it worked. Thank you.

I connected a "cordless telephone battery connector " same size NO BATTERY just the white connector & wires to short Valet - BLUE port on brain NO horn just blink of LED PERFECT

Thanks for this video. It was perfect. I want to ask you a question. My Prius has a key fob that I never need to take out of my pocket as a hand sensor is in the door handle. However, the alarm will be triggered if the Prius fob unlocks the door and it is open. Is there a way for the use of the Prius key fob to turn off the alarm when the unlock button on the Prius fob is pressed and vice versa when the lock button is pressed? Maybe a signal that can be relayed to the Avital? Thanks!

odd my has button but no switch. Randomly all features stopped working. No lock/unlock remote start, or trunk. Really annoying the lazy installer just left the wires and button coiled up next to controller. Thank you this helped. 4103 is functional again.

I was trying to run some wires for a sound system in my dash and i cam across a black box called a “xcrs500m extreme capacity relay” i could tell its not factory by the way it was wired in. I cant really find much information on it. But I assume its a wireless start box. I would like to use a keyfob to warm my truck up in winter. What if I bought a car that has and alarm system but don’t have a key fob for it ? It’s an older car by the way with an aftermarket alarm that I just randomly came across when installing some wire what can I do to get a new key fob and program it?????? HELLPPPP!!!!!!

Hello. You need to trace wire to find either the brain or something identifying the maker of the alarm and then from there you can research make model and fob.

It took me an hour to finally get it to work. Door must be opened. Turn the key to the run position. This is where you'll see all the warning lights and it is right before turning vehicle fully on. !IMPORTANT! DO NOT TURN CAR ON. Must be in RUN and motor off. Before 5 seconds, with COPPER wire (preferably because it is conductive) touch wire on both metal prongs on alarm. Within the next 5 seconds hold wire nonmetal prongs and then press and hold lock button on the remote until horn beeps and synchs with remote. Side note- I also had to buy a new remote from Amazon. Search replacement Avital 474L Remote Control Transmitter or research which remote works with your Avital system. Good luck my friend

Ok Here you go. With the wire I created, I touch both metal pieces inside the blue slot. Touch both with the wire to initiate the programming (just touch and come off them) and then immediately hold the wire on them for 5 seconds and then hold the lock on the remote for 5 seconds
