My factory manual indicates that both of my remote keys are the masters. The non-master is the valet key with no remote. I have a 2012 xD and I don't have a immobilizer light anywhere. Argh. lol Very interesting procedure though, thanks for posting!

The security light is on the shifter base, not on the dash in at least 2011 and on.

This doesn't work on all Toyota/Scion models/years. For instance, for Corolla and Matrix, it only works for 2005. It works for quite a few years of the Scion tC.

After extensive reading from FRS forums it was concluded you had to use the Techstream software and associated OBD2 to USB cable. I purchased both on ebay for under 30 bucks and once I found what smart key needed to be purchased, did it myself with ease. The FRS is unique to the other Scion offerings regarding programming the smart chip.
