I can't seem to get the piano roll midi selection and the arrangement view selector to work together.

If you press “tab” on your computer keyboard, it will change the window from the “live performance looping” window to the main tracking window if that’s what you meant? If not could you clarify a bit more what you mean

@BrendonKPadjasek I got it, now I can't figure out where my work goes. Like I wanna keep everything in one midi but I make a new part and it erases others sometimes even though I'm sure I was in the measures ahead of that one. I sure don't like Mableton so far. I am new to it, but it sucks redoing parts
@BrendonKPadjasek10 ай бұрын
@gslinger19 can you tell if you have the midi track on record? If so it’ll get rid of whatever you’ve already programmed. The easiest way to see the midi you’ve drawn is to double click it. You can record over the midi and keep what you had already if you click the plus sign at the top of the program next to the record button. And then to join midi press control / command + J

@@BrendonKPadjasek Appreciate the responses. I did an intro drum section, then clicked part mixer to start a new midi part but on the same track, if that makes sense, sorry my terms are bad. I realize now I might have accidently recorded over what I did is all. Just gonn ahave to start saving more and working til I get it. Vids are a great help btw. I am redoing some drums from an old track because they were robotic as hell. It already sounds more human what I've got.

Ableton piano roll has got to be the best there is out there of all the daws, the note placement and velocity adjustment just make it a walk in the park. Love it!!
@BrendonKPadjasek4 ай бұрын
Same! The ONLY thing I wish they stole from Pro Tools is if you click from a section in time on the piano roll, it will always play from there. Instead of having to click on somewhere on the edit page other than that, the key commands, nudging and everything is so well thought out
@ripperthecrooks64284 ай бұрын
@BrendonKPadjasek I believe there is a way to "set" your playback point in time on the piano roll and then hit space bar it will always play from that point, I think it's the green or yellow arrow 🔰 it creates a point to play back from

Thank you, Brendon. I use logic Pro X for all my recordings, now considering switching to Ableton. Looks like it is a bit more convenient. Really love those funny stock videos with dancing people.
@BrendonKPadjasek Жыл бұрын
Hahahaha thanks! I love throwing them in. Especially if I noticing I’m being too serious in the video. Needs a little break up. And awesome if you do end up switching and have any other questions let me know! I LOVE Ableton. It’s so easy to do anything you need to in there. I tried logic for a couple months and I never quite got comfortable with it. And I also got a lot of buggy issues so I switched back to pro tools for mixing and Ableton for everything else.

Eh I appreciate that Sadar! Ableton has come a long way and although it is known in the electronic genre it’s very suitable for all genres now. Thanks for watching!

As a guitarist who absolutely sucks at writing drums, a beginners guide to writing drum would be awesome. I never know where to place snare hits, which cymbals to use in which context (except the china), and how to properly use toms. I feel like not beeing able to write decent drums makes guitar writing much more difficult.

I do have another video on how I make my drum parts more interesting. Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6KVlHekl9Z8fqM Let me know if that helps. It’s what I always do when writing drums

@@BrendonKPadjasek to image it better. I would say imagine a guitarist who has no knowledge of how to write drums, but who wants to be able to do so because he feels it would make him also a better guitarist. I have all the tools, but i don't know wich cymbals to use in wich context, the placements, etc. As a guitarist, how did you learn to write drums?

New Sub! Thank you so much! Do you have a Discord or an E-Mail to answer any questions from an aspiring metal musician? I’ve been playing guitar since 9, I’m 28 now and I really want to start making my own songs/instrumentals solely because of my love for music and I think of myself as a creative outlet person and making music is definitely my outlet.
