This was so help full me and my friend did it to pur calculators(mine being a ti 84 plus ce)(hers being a ti84plus) we entered the same probelm and we both got differnt anwser and we type it in again and still got differnt anwsers.

gOOD IDEAS!! You know I'm using it by the 1st. time TI's, because have been a fan of CASIO'S and Sharps. I'm seeing that the way to program them is not so much different but a little more exhaustive and requires learning by memory all the menus Math, Program, Catalog, etc. Anyway, it's good to have here people who know use these brands!!! Is there any way for me to select and use either value given by this function? Anytime I move the cursor up, the whole function including my answers disappears off the screen, and then I have to do the function over again.

For anyone who wants an answer to this, if you follow this video then your two results are stored in the D and E letters. All you need to do is press 'Alpha' > 'D' to get the first value calculated, and 'Alpha' > 'E' to get the second value

Hello! You don't need to hit alpha at all in the catalog, it is already selected, so you turn it off and back on again when you do it

To get a+bi, Prompt, and Disp, you do not have to use the catalog. You could instead hit "Mode" for a+bi and "Prgm" for Prompt and Disp

I've noticed that my calculator will struggle to show the full part of both roots when the answer is a repeating decimal. For example a=3, b=2, & c=5 gives me .333333333 + 1. .... and .33333333 + 1. ... I later learned this is .333 -1.25i, .333+1.25i. Do you how I can scroll for this answer? Normally I try to scroll but the program just shows as done.

When I programmed this, it will only show me one of the roots. Ex: using the equation: 0=-3x^2+4x+4 the values for x should be -2/3 and 2. But, my calculator is only giving me x=-2/3. How do I correct this?

Hi Kate! That is odd - maybe give your calculator a hard restart and try again? I would advise this if only if the quadratic equation formula is programmed into your calculator. If you have other add-on programs you installed, they would get erased with the hard reset. To reset your calculator press 2nd + (mem) and then go down to "Reset..." press enter and then press "All RAM" then press "Reset". Then from there you can run through the video again to put in the Quadratic Equation and it should work!

If you are inputting a, b, or c values that are in the thousands or above (and requiring a comma) you do not put the comma into the value. For example, for a value of 1,000 - you would just input it as 1000. Hopefully this helps! 😀

The answers that the program provides will depend on the a, b, and c values that are inputed. Sometimes the x answers will be positive and sometimes they will be negative!
