@@LoshiqBg I found out it depends on the Year, Make, & Model of the Car. You might need a J2534 Passthrough Device. I successfully Cloned a 2001 Ford Expedition PCM, made Keys, but could not write the Vin. The PCM I Cloned to still has the VIN number from the Donor vehicle. My friend at the Ford Dealer will Write the correct Vin for me. I used a Snap On Verus Pro to Swap the PCM.

Nice job man. I wonder if I can rewrite the vin number for my fj Cruiser so that I can change the vehicle specs. Here in Libya we import usa toyotas with usa specs. Ihave heard about programming ECM for ignoring trouble codes those come because of CAT issues. Any ideas?

You can do that, it will be coding and some tuning so you would need the correct hardware (tools) and software

You need a Scanner capable of writing the actual Vin to the new/ used PCM. He is using a Snap-on scanner in this video with the capability.

You need to be granted access to the Car's security system and need a minimum of two keys to program new keys. Otherwise you need to take your car to the Dealership.

Changing the Vin only does nothing for Engine performance. Your cars PCM needs to be reflashed with the latest Configuration files from the manufacturer.

I have an 08 jeep commander... it blew a rod threw the block so I'm swapping it out with an 06 commander motor same size engine .. I believe the egr valve is diffrent so the guy I bought the motor from gave me the ecu to that motor would it work if I rewrite the vin?

It can be programmed properly if the PCM part numbers are identical. This is done all the time by experienced Automotive Technicians/ Engineers.

I read the Launch Torque has the capability. The Launch x 431 Pro does all the programming except it has no Vin Write Capability. Unfortunately I have to use the Snap- On Verus Pro to write the Vin on a Ford PCM Swap.

Hi, i have a 2006 lexus is250 , I have changed the engine to a gs300 3grfse engine, it seems to run fine on the is 250 ecu but I thought i would swap in the gs300 ecu. You can’t, plus you’ll want the correct vin and known modules to be programmed otherwise you’ll have issues

No. There is no such thing as Plug & Play for the Ford PATS Security system. Your cars PCM needs to programmed onsite or at the Dealership.

The Solus Pro Scan tool he is using is now obsolete. It depends on what year your car is. If your car is too new, you won't be granted security access to program the minimum of Two Keys requirement.
