Just did my second lap on a black run on my Hardtail! Loving the HT life, I feel like I'm getting so much better than if I could just plow through everything. I may not be the fastest but I'm having a great time! Line choice is so important without any rear squish. (OTG @ Tiger Mountain)
@CoderShare
@CoderShare 3 жыл бұрын
Hardtails don't necessarily make a better rider, they just make a different rider. Knowing how to plow through chunk at high speed is a different skill set you don't get to practice as much when you're forced to choose lines carefully. I suppose it all depends whether speed is your priority.

GMBN I would like to issue a challenge/idea: Take a bike from that is offered in AL and CF and build both to the same spec and put them head to head. See the results. Then maybe have fun with some setups from the crew to explore the capabilities of the frame/geo. My best to the team!

I would disagree with the suggestion that everything on a red route is rollable, if you ride Bike Park Wales believing you can roll all the reds you're going to get into trouble quite quickly. I'm thinking of the drop into Bonneyville as an example, or most of the drops on Insufficient Funds, rolling some of those will lead to an 'unplanned dismount' over the bars!
@neildaniel8232
@neildaniel8232 3 жыл бұрын
Was going to type the same thing! Not just at BPW though, lots of places are making red features that are commit or crash. I'm a solid Red run rider and despite my skills getting better and my bikes being more capable than 5 years ago the trails are getting harder and I'm being sort of left behind. Using your example of BPW's Insufficient funds and Bonneyville, I could ride both of those pretty comfortably when they first opened. Now they're so much harder I avoid them. Trail builders are pushing the limits of the grading and it's in danger of leaving a lot of riders behind.
@jonm7272
@jonm7272 3 жыл бұрын
@@neildaniel8232 I always assume a rule of thumb that Blues features will always be rollable, Reds features may not be rollable but there will be a chicken run around them and Blacks features will very often be not rollable and there may not be routes around them. Inconsistency in grading between Bike Parks is a real problem. I think some of it may be due to their basing their gradings ( to some extent) on their expected rider demographic rather than a definitive system. For example, the Red trail at Haldon Forest (Devon) is an absolute doddle and really should be a Blue, but I suspect is graded up because they have lots of more 'casual' riders there, and the opposite at somewhere like BPW where they expect more experienced riders to be tackling the Reds and Blacks. The qualifiers at BPW are very good though and should leave people in no doubt what to expect. Be a nice topic for GMBN to take on maybe, inconsistency in Trial Grading with some examples shown.
@jpg6482
@jpg6482 3 жыл бұрын
appreciate that insight! I am just about to do the reds at BPW first time!
@jpg6482

@@jonm7272 completely agree riding at Swinley and Haldon frequently and visiting BPW occasionally, a red is certainly not equal!
@jonm7272
@jonm7272 3 жыл бұрын
@@jpg6482 The grading and trail information given at BPW are superb, and the qualifiers at the start of each run are spot on. Also, note they grade not just by colour but also by type, so 'flow' 'technical', mix of the two and have a scale within each colour, from easiest to hardest. If you like jumping they've just rebuilt A470 ( I haven't had a chance to try it yet) to really follow a clear progression with jumps getting bigger and faster as you go down the trial. If you like fast technical stuff then I would suggest Vicious Valley > Bonneyville > Insufficient Funds but beware that this combination is probably near the top end of the Red Grade (and also beware the slightly off line gap jumps at the bottom of Insufficient Funds, I hate these) so take care until you've learnt the trails. The qualifier for Bonneyville is a big horrible drop-in to flat, if you can handle this then you'll be fine on any of the other Red trial drops.

What annoyed me as I re entered the sport was, that every area seems to have a different system. IMBA, STS, others just taking the classification from the skiing sport and so forth. In most parts of the world red means something between blue and single black (hiking/skiing). A red pro line, double orange diamonds or triple black, as far as I know is not an official thing. I personally believe in the system of the international mountain bicycling association. Maybe you can do a video for freshies how a trail actually gets it´s difficulty rating and why some crews give trails a difficulty thats exceeding the official tables.
@dylan-5287
@dylan-5287 3 жыл бұрын
The other difficulty is how relative ratings are. If other things in the area aren't very intense, you'll see blue or even black lines that could be considered green or green/blue. Makes it a bit harder when you're in a new area and unsure of the perspective.

After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working kzbin.infoUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.

These Black Trails probably look like fun challenges for a lot of you young people and I am happy for you. For me, at 69yrs, I am very happy with Red where I can choose to stay on the ground. Last weekend, my buddy decided to take us on a Black Trail (or maybe it was a gnarly extra steep red) - no turning back once we got into it and thank goodness it was dry or otherwise I would have been up to my ears in poison oak as I was thrown off the Trail !!! I don't see Blake or Rich in any spills. Does this mean that top riders can do these Triple Diamond Black Trails can literally fly? :)
