Great tips and timing! It was raining here this morning and cleaned all my flylines. Couldn’t believe how much filth came off, took several cleanings each, but I also fish almost every day, and some of the water is pretty murky. Thanks Rio! Really like your products. 👍👍

Thank you, 30 years in the game, and Chris Walker just show me few things I didn’t do, and I didn’t care about fly lines. One question, if soap a water is use to clean the fly line, what soap is recommend please? Thank you again Chris & Rio for all the how to videos 👍

Use just a mild detergent.

We checked with our R&D team, and they said that a mild hand soap, not a dish soap, is best. Thanks for being a fan, we really do appreciate that.

Good video with a lot of common sense tips. I have been fishing RIO lines for a few years and really like them. My only points of failure have been in the last foot of the loop (head) end with either cracks in the coating leading to water penetration or loop failure. Any tips on how maintain this specific part of your fly line that arguably receives the most wear and tear?

Thanks for your message and for your support - that is very much appreciated. Sadly the front of the line DOES get the most wear and tear, and because it is the front end of the taper, has the least amount of coating of any part of the line. The less coating their is, the shorter the life span, generally. T his is not ideal - having the part that gets the most wear and tear being the least durable, but without making the line tips a lot fatter (which would make the line kick like a donkey when cast), it is very difficult to avoid this. Having said that, our R&D team have been working very hard to create a new type of coating at the front that will help. We aren't calling it out, but it is part of the SlickCast technology, so if you ever get a line with SlickCast, you should find the tip quite a bit more durable than before.

Thanks RIO. I bought your Elite Gold WF 6wt this month and hope SlickCast can help wring a little more longevity. Appreciate that there all always trade-offs in any piece of equipment.

@@trevorgosselin9778 Thanks Trevor, nice of you to buy one of those. You should certainly find much better durability all round with that line. If you haven't tried it yet, you will immediately notice how slick it is, as well.
