As a music producer, recording artist, or DJ it's important to learn music marketing to help promote your music, sell music, and grow your online brand. The problem is that most of us are self taught and end up making this common mistake that can end our career before it even starts. This is how to avoid music career suicide...

i like how you never try to sell a program, or the ultimate key guide to success, cause in our field there really isn’t a path you have to create your own, and it’s awesome that you understand that and just give wisdom, plus shout out other works like authors and such. very genuine dude

My genuine concern with this, is all the cut throats I hear about in the music industry. If you're a nice guy like you should be, these people will screw you over eventually. I don't have a problem being nice because I'm afraid of offending others, but I also don't have the street-smarts to spot the wolf in sheep's clothing. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? I'm not much of a wordsmith either haha.

I understand what you are saying but what if I need to get 10K views on my KZbin video? Do I start conversation with 10K people on all over social media?. I'd like people to approach me with a budget like ' hey my budget is so and so can you make a beat for me'. So by your analogy should I pay 10K people to listen to my songs? As I said I understand what you are saying but I don't think it's feasible.

It’s really nice to know my anxieties about marketing the music on my other channel are now invalidated and that I was doing it the right way haha. I like making ads, they’re helpful to let people SEE but not to STAY. A genuine connection with people will always keep them more invested than a Facebook/ig/twitter ad shoving your art down their face demanding you listen. Always be one with the people so they can be one with you when it’s time to expose yourself to the world. That probably wasn’t the right word but you get the point lmao. That’s what I took from the video at least.
@mrdurandt1

Just found your video. Interesting ideas and presentation. However, what you are suggesting is practical impossibility if you want to grow a following. Let me explain... If you spend 18 hours a day everyday to build contacts and, let's say, 2 minutes per person to get to know them, that gives you around 500 people you can talk to a day. But to show genuine interest and build a relationship with these 500 people, you need to do that on a daily basis. Which leaves you no more physical room to grow. Then of course, not many people have 18 hours a day to sit in front of a screen and just talk to people, so that number in real world would be more like 2-4 hours at best. So let's say you spend 6 months building these 500 relationships and another 500 the rest of the year, the max you can get is 1000 genuine followers per year. Plus a few extra from your followers shares. That is an insane amount of effort for 1000 followers! But you are correct that being honest and friendly and showing interest in other people's work will have the same reciprocal effect on you. It's just much faster and better to do some adverting and spend some money to promote your product. It kinda works wonders. You know that "Fast, Good and Cheap" rule, right? In any case, entertaining video!

so true. I made the mistake to send emails to well-connected guys and festival promoters almost forcing them to listen to my stuff. And being a bit too arrogant. Pushing the wrong way, expecting feedback. That's another thing too, it's hard to find people that can objectively help you push your sound and get better. Like I was reading this interview with Andy Stott where he said that he had a friend that runs a label that criticizes his tracks. He never releases them right away. his friend is like a curator. So, he only releases the best tracks and in a logical order.

Facts, you get a lot more fans making friends online. I always respond to fans & even haters, lots of times those haters become fans. Showing interest in other people's music is my favorite way of marketing myself... when I genuinely listen to somebody's music even if you don't like it & give them feedback or befriend them I get a positive response most of the time.

I could tell it was legit from the word go. Let me just say, you are obviously a guy who wants to help folk increase. I see it in your face. I hear it in your voice. "Real world actions", "Romance". Brilliant consciousness. Also, so many folks put up videos and are trying their damnest to pitch you something. Everything they say ultimately just leads back to the pitch. I hate that. It annoys me greatly. But you. You wanna help me grow. That's your motivation. So... subscribe. And... tap the bell. I just love to be a part of this family! I'll share something about myself and my life story one day to you. Because I have been a total fuck up for several years. Addiction, homeless etc. But today I'm standing proud because I fought my way thru it! And I did it myself! But one thing I have been able to do is to craft my music skills for more than 10 years and I think I'm starting to sound decent. I was a good DJ before everything fell apart. But I wonder if this experience I had (the bad, the ugly, the truth) Is something I can use to my advantage? But let me know If you want me to share my story? Maybe it can help somebody else... Thank You so much, Adam, for making these videos! To me they are golden! Love from Oslo/Norway :)
