No way! You're kidding me, I can't believe that XD thank you so much for that.. O really thought that was pronounced with "th" and "s" but so fast that I couldn't get this sound, now I know why.. the "th" really don't make any sound, so easy now haha

As a teacher I give the phonetic 'munts'. Yes the 'th' is tricky, so we replace it with a simple clean 't'. 'muh-ns' lacks the subtle almost silent crisp 't' that is necessary to develop a good ear as well as good pronuncitaion of other syllables in English.

As an English teacher, I would say that although you don't "have to" pronounce the "th" (and yes, it can be tricky to pronounce the "th" followed by the "s", especially for people whose languages don't have the "th" sound), it really is more correct to do so. And as you mentioned, the other challenging thing with this word, is that the "o" is actually pronounced like a short "u", as in "sun". English vowel pronunciation is so crazy!!

The phonetic pronunciation in the merriam-webster dictionary says ˈmən(t)s, without the th, but it puts ˈmən(t)ths as optional, if you are speaking very fast without the th it is best.
