Please don't do what the guy in this video demonstrates. It's a wonder he hasn't cut off his fingers yet. The best way to divide a specimen size orchid like this is straightforward: 1) soak the entire pot (with plant) in luke-warm water for 15 minutes or so, this will make the roots more pliable. 2) Break the pot to let the plant escape. 3) Hose off any old medium clinging to root ball with water. (Not every bit of old medium has to be taken off.) 4) With STERiLIZED secateurs or a sterilized knife (always cut AWAY from your body parts, important always but especially so with a wet plant), cut your plant into the sizes you want (minimum three pseudobulbs per division.) 5) Then you can put each division in their own pot with the medium that works for your environment.
