🎆 Hello and a very happy new year to all of you!
Today I want to show you how to propagate a poplar cutting, also known as Cottonwood.
The technique used is quite standard for propagating cuttings and is the most successful technique.
Usually, the substrate for bonsai propagation consists of perlite and peat in a percentage of 50% - 50%.
Considering that it is winter, and that the poplar cutting will stay in this container until next spring when it will be replanted, probably in a bigger pot, I have created a slightly more complex rooting substrate mix for bonsai.
It is always good to test bonsai substrate mixes and understand how each substrate particle behaves.
Thus, you will understand how to make the mix for each individual bonsai. But, I repeat, you have to test the substrate mixes and improve them from year to year until you find the best recipe for your bonsai and the environment in which they grow.
This bonsai technique applies to any bonsai from cutting that you want to propagate.
