Nice setup Heads up, I see a lefty knuckle on that boom pole stand 1:37 I've seen those come loose and drop on people Best practice is to keep the knuckle on the right side so as gravity pulls the weight down it tightens the knuckle instead of loosening it Best of luck

I had to come back and watch this video again. I remember this video from a few months back and I wanted to see how you were running negative fill with that black backdrop. I am still trying to figure out negative fill, as I am typically just using a three-point lighting setup. I just picked up a 49" EZ Lock Glow softbox for my 200W Godox lights and I love it, but I think the shower curtain would even be better so I am building a frame for it with PVC and two stands with some dual clamp adjustable grips so that I can tilt adjust the shower curtain diffuser. Basically just a Scrim. On another note, I didn't notice before how much nicer that Rode mic sounded versus the LAV Mic. My Sony VG1s are much harder to clean up in an open room like that gym. I love that you share real on-set discussions like this. Great work! Hopefully, KZbin boosts this video up for you!

Good stuff! Thanks for sharing your setup. I do the same trick with the sound blanket on the floor to help with echo, but if you have a white side and black side, keep in mind that you can add a bit of bottom fill by putting the white side up. Also helps when you've got lots of bounce light off colored surfaces, as it will minimize the color bouncing back onto the face.

Dope video man like always! One tip get some tennis balls cut them open and put them at the bottom feet of your c stands. Don’t want to scuff those floors with them. Just in case they try to say your equipment messed up the floor and they have to redo it

Awesome stuff. Love the use of inexpensive materials. Is there any reason you're not using the FLAT side of your negative fill? Just curious. Also, IMO, your tight shots on the woman are at too hard of an angle, it's almost a side profile. I'd recommend a 45 degree angle for your tight camera. Also, the tights of the gentleman have him sitting very far right of frame, ironically while you're talking about rule of thirds! Again, just personal preference but I thought I'd point it out. It stands out to me. Cheers! All the best!

In principle you have your setup nailed down, but I think you have to control that spill of light you get in the main camera, it`s super washed out compared to the B-cam (this is due to the diffusion blasting light everywhere, and with that - in your lens hood). Next time try to flag the light impacting your main camera and you will gain more contrast and depth :)
@Brookssmedia Жыл бұрын
So couple of things one thanks for the feedback. The reason it looks different because I used a black pro mist on one angle and forgot to use it on the other lol that's all. Also you're looking at non graded footage. Davinci just did the conversion for me and that was it. But thanks for watching and the feedback

Awesome video! Where did you set up the dji mic on him? how are you not getting any echo from the gym with it?
@Brookssmedia Жыл бұрын
Great question! So I put the Lav on the talent very close to their chest. Then the sound blanket underneath their feet helped a lot too. You want to put lavs closer to the chest because that's where a good a mount of bass comes from.

@@Brookssmedia that's awesome! Thanks for answering so fast. Was it the receiver itself or an omni directional lav? I always find mine pick up echos
@Brookssmedia Жыл бұрын
So the lavs I use are the rode mics and I wanna say they are omni as well 🤔 so you may just need to work on controlling your sound treatment a little more. Sound blankets go a long wayb

@unclebillscamping Жыл бұрын
@@PebblesMcWilly size of the room plays into this. Avery large untreated room can give great audio if your speaking in a normal conversational tone. The reflective have a much harder time making back to the mic at any significant tone as well as having the pad down to control them in the immediate area. I do believe the dji has some sort of internal processing even if it’s not listed as I can use it in my untreated garage and it still sounds good.
