Let me help everyone here. The helmet mount they supply is flat and helmets are curved. GoPro gives to a curved helmet mount and that mount is still on my helmet after five years just sticking it on. I applied the Akaso helmet mount and it’s only sticking in about a pencil width surface contact due to it being flat. You can even see it in the video here. The place they applied it in this video is barely making surface contact with the helmet. They smushed it against ridged areas of that helmet LOL. My Akaso fell off while testing over carpet. Doesn’t it strike you off too that they are recommending using a zip tie??? Seriously??? I might as well just use duct tape and wrap is around the helmet and camera three times and call it a day…

@@akasoofficial thanks so much for the reply! I actually have the *Akaso V50x* that also comes with the tether wire/cable and I mounted it to a helmet... how would the cable be able to *protect* it?? As in, would it prevent it from falling if it were to accidentally fall? In other words, is it necessary to use it when mounting it to a helmet? It just kind of seems a bit strange with the way the tether was put on... Also for the second case of using the tether, I tried to check out the amazon link but it said "sorry, we couldn't find that page". Is there another link for it?

What is the purpose of the protective back cover? It is not water tight, it has 2 slots cut into it. Why would it attach to the waterproof case?

It took several tries to find "the best" mounting position on my e-MTB. First there was the standard "top of the handle bars" position, a PITA since there is not enough room; the bike controller display, the bike computer and the strobe head light require room! Next was the "Top of the helmet" which works OK, but is asking for trouble if one has a crash. Third the position on the fork beam, which was a very good POV, but problematic on very bumpy trails since both the Brave 4 and the EK 7000 had a tendency to stop recording over those trails. What finally works best for me on the bike is the "suspended from the handlebar" position. I also added a 10'000 mAh power bank as a reliable supply. Took a while to get it figured out, but now I get the videos I want from the POV I like. For XC skiing I have a chest mount harness.

If its the v50 you have it may be that that's an old version that doesn't include it yet or it's a new version which has discontinued it. I have the ek7000 and it includes all of these and I bought mine April 2020

Great informative video. It explains how to use the various mounts. I did find that I needed to order a head and a chest mount seperate. I plan on using it while vacationing in Hawaii. I plan on going ziplining and will need a helmet mount. The head mount I ordered said it will fit on a helmet. Now I'm super excited! Thanks again for the info. Also, plan on taking a segway tour. I think the handle Bar mount will come in handy.

I tried to use it for our zipline adventure, but apparently either it went into sleep mode or I didn't press the on button correctly. I didn't get any coverage. Instill have the memories, though

I was wondering the same thing. The one it comes with, no sound when you record video. The Extra, has two slits in back, so you can pick up some sound, but, its not total waterproof then.

I found it easiest to open it by inserting a fingernail, or a file or something small, into the slot closest to the edge of the camera, then pull toward the camera and pull upward. I'm not certain as to why there are two slots there, it can be deceiving, but if you look very closely at them you'll see the upper one has a little lip there to catch your fingernail on to open it. I hope that made sense and helps.

I know that this is an old thread, but trying anyway. I just got the V50X yesterday and maybe I got something wrong - but I thought that the camera could be used for a anything apart from diving without the waterproof casing. But dang it... Both USB ports and the SD card slot on the left side of the camera is completely uncovered - nothing prevents water, moist, dust etcetera from getting into those openings? And the extra waterproof back for the waterproof casing...what is that for?

I have the Brave 4 but even so with the exception of just a couple of the attachments the rest appear to be exactly alike. I had been wondering how to attach the camera to my bike helmet and this video definitely resolved that issue. So thank you for that! :) Just curious though in the first section when you used the tape to attach the helmet mount to the side of the helmet, just how strong is that tape and how prone would the camera be to falling off when riding on rough terrain? Because only the tape is securing the camera to the side of the helmet. I'd hate to hit a bump and have it fall off. (Oops.... LOL) I'm also curious on how to remove the clip on Mount 2 from the helmet mount when I'm finished riding or is it a case of "once that clip is installed it can never be removed"? But if it can be removed I'd really like to see a video on how to do that please. Again, thank you for the very informative video!!

That's great except there are no such accessories in my kit. The helmet mount has notches which doesn't fit with the weird attachment clips supplied and "Clip #2" on the parts list which would fit this kind of mounting bracket was not included in my camera accessory kit

Good tutorial. I mounted on the helmet, but if you ask me it is not good at all. 1.Your head is geting heavier a lot. 2.The strips that actually hold the whole camera is moving because you can't tight enough for don't allowed camera to move while you drive on bumpy road. That means your camera is not firm on your head and your videos will be bad. 3.The yellow bolt where you put camera it is not se cure enough.

I called their customer service today and figured out for V50 X, no need of the clip, just use the "mount 2" on 1:10, I can mount the camera without the waterproof case. The camera has a screw hole on the bottom, screw the smaller piece of mount 2 to the camera body directly, like 2:35 do, then you can mount to different thing. The video is kind of misleading of using the clips when screw on the mounting piece, V50 X does not need that step, and does not has the clips.

@6minute it shows how to mount the camera on the side of the helmet. But, try to use the waterproof casing there and you'll struggle to get it level, unless you extend it further aside. Might as well have a built-in indicator. It would be better to have a chin mount for full face helmet too instead of 100 useless accessories. For the bit to mount the camera on the helmet mount, I cant get it to be centered, it's always at an angle whenever I screw it in

Mine does it too. It's because the tighter you have the mount holding it steady the more it leans off center. I about worked that out by loosening this screw as much as I could and then taking a little bit of hot glue and dragging it across the joint so it holds its position and I'm able to scratch off the glue with my fingernail without any problem or leftover glue on the camera. Takes out the problem about 98%

Get a small roll of 3M double sided tape. Use your imagination and you can attach the V50 to almost anything. Use fishing line as a saw to remove with WD40 or similar to clean off the residue.
