This knife was suspected of heat treatment issues. Maxamet just needs proper abrasives and techniques for the best results.
It's a unique material so there's not a lot of experience out there with how to sharpen it.
This is my first Maxamet sharpening customer. I only sharpen Maxamet,
No other knives, I have no interest or time.
Contact me if you're interested, this is a premium service.

Thanks, BBB. But for the time being I am very happy with Spyderco's S110V. Maybe in the future a Shaman in Maxamet or Rex 121, who knows? Nevertheless, following your knowledge. I hope your enterprise in knive making reaches the succes it deserves for your great effort. Thanks again.

Ive watched this video like 3 times. You make this look so easy! I’m going to buy a maxamet para 3 soon but I don’t have a sharpener. Do you recommend stones first for a noob or a guided system? Awesome work bro.
@EZ_Case

Did you ever get your setup? I bought a maxamet para 3 a few months ago and ordered the worksharp pro sharpening system a couple weeks ago. I’m a complete noob when it comes to both knives and sharpening but with the worksharp It’s actually fairly straight forward. I went through all the stones and it took about 15 minutes to get the blade to hair shaving sharp.

Good job buddy. That 600 cut that quick, they’re going to be some impressive stones. And I’ll be trying out those extra passes to get out any Inconsistencies.

@@FearNoSteel Is it improper to sharpen right up to the plunge instead of cutting a choil? I turn the ricasso into sharpened edge. I find that I accidentally snag sharpening choils on plastic pallet wrap when they're on a work knife. I'm a tad clumsy.

The lightweight Manix and Native models are great for no nonsense, non-safe queen users. I carry all my knives but if I’m gonna “try something out” (like carving with s110v), it’ll be with my Manix lightweight. They’re about the cheapest way to access these exotic, interesting steels in a model that’s still reliable, stable and reputable.

I know as soon as I settle for which brand stones to get you’ll have yours for sale... you give hints and ball parks of what to buy won’t spill the beans. I get it, you put years into the learning the best methods and what might work excellent for one steel doesn’t ring true for all. So I’ll stay confused a bit longer and maybe you’ll have your released soon enough.

How would you compare Maxamet and S110V? Aside from the obvious (tool steel vs stainless). =)
@FearNoSteel
@FearNoSteel 6 жыл бұрын
GPKNIVES to keep it short, Maxamet has the superior EDGE performance. It takes a crisper more aggressive edge, polishes better. Maxamet also Holds the longest working edge I've seen or used, the stuff is literally "blunt proof" it will cut long after it no longer cuts paper clean or shaves. S110v has some merits too that we'll save for another video. I still like s110v

I've always found Maxamet surprisingly easy to sharpen just using Spydercos SharpMaker kit...it's all I've really ever used...you can freehand it if you flip it upside down because it has recesses built in for the triangle stones, and I found that was the best for my Chokwe...for most of their knives it works very well IMO...I do want to get more into freehand sharpening though since having tried it on my Chokwe.

Bro..... Bro..... BRO.... a cbn stone! Where did you get it? And great job showing all these re-re's how to sharpen a knife. Like its fucking steel... Its super wear resistant tool steel. How fucking hard is it to realize that you need proper abrasives?? And prpoer technique? Lol It seems to me 99% of the bullshit that gets put on the internet about steels being "chippy" "fragile" "hard to sharpen" is just that.... Bullshit. 99% of the guys writing that bs have sub par skill sets sharpening. They kick that bullshit because they cant admit they need more practice. Great edge bro
