When I was low level the laser cannon was my go to weapon for the bots because they’re more weak point oriented than the termininds so I can take out hulks, devastators, and more with just the laser cannon. That being said the only edge the quasar has is the ability to snipe bot fabricators from across the map it has no bullet drop. I mostly play against the bugs because its easier to farm samples and POI’s but once my ship is 30/30 I’ll switch to the bots they’re more fun to play against I like the difficulty. Also the bugs are the current focus right now because soon we’ll be able to take on the planets within the gloom

I've tried both and have found the Quasar works best for me. I do not like to bring stun grenades and have my lethality be directly related to the need to use another tool, as your video showcases. Against 3 hulks, 1 rocket devastator and 5 or so heavy gunners, you used 5 stun grenades and 2 stims. While this is viable, it also means after the engagement, the lethality you have is severely reduced. Likely this loadout is fantastic for burst damage, which can 100% be needed at times, but I am one who likes to have consistent damage. Adjudicator for the medium armor pen on everything up to a hulk (2-3 heavy gunners per adjudicator mag is not hard, even when under fire and on full or burst fire), quasar for heavy/turret/factorystrider/gunship/dropship/fabricator take downs every ~18-25 seconds and plenty of frag grenades for when there are groups or stunning is needed. The grenades aren't as stunning as stun grenades, but they may also take out bots or arms to further reduce the heat you have on you while diving. All in all, I do love to see what divers bring and seeing different loadouts. I have a pretty aggressive playstyle but prefer more range on my engagements (50-150m), but more importantly, I like the consistency. That said, I am 100% certain there are times where I have wanted or will want someone with this loadout for those times where things just need to be taken down very quickly for that spike damage. So it is always important to try and be complimentary of what other divers have, if you know you will work as a group. Share strategems to bring more ordinance/turrets, if you trust your team to have little trouble in waiting on a second call down for an aux weapon/backpack. Maps start easier than they finish, so you can do the same and get stronger as the map timer goes on while ending up with more power at the end due to the extra ordinance/turrets you now have at the end.

@dustinlang4327 Well put. I'll add a few things to it. In the intro for the sake of the video I didn't call in and collect the extra stims from the supply pack and decided to going in and take out the 3 hulks and multiple devastators immediately. I wanted the moment to be epic 😆. Also I didn't rock the stun Grenade everytime. I mixed it up with the thermite. All this was in the name of science. I usually run lv.10 solos 95% of the time so I create my builds around that. The quasar is excellent for team work. But for solos I feel that the 11.5 second recharge just simply takes too long for continual usage. However in a team settings having 1 diver with the quasar that can snipe Fabs and tower cannons from afar works along nicely. I played extra aggressive in these clips. But I do know how to be conservative using the laser cannon. Check out my No Deaths Lv.10 Eradicate Solo against the Automatons for example. I played a bit more elusive there. In a regular game settings I like to use the crossbow, senator, thermite, and either the railgun or laser cannon. Having 225hrs of gameplay for Hd2. I have alot more weapons to explore. Right now I'm working on the Amr and creating a video for that. If you have any ideas for weapons that aren't showed much love and are great for taking out enemies. At close range you need stun grenades. At medium to long then the cannon still beats the Quasar hands down. For turrets facing you or dropships you're better off with EATS, Commando, 500kg, or Precision Strike. It just seems like you're gimping yourself if you're bringing a Quasar while losing out on the flexibility of the laser cannon. DilCS for long range but quiet work or whatever primary you want. Gas grenades are still beating out frags as the bot not only die but will also take out a few friends with them plus the gas cloud lingers making it a path trap for an entire line of berserkers or troopers rather than 2 or 3 tops with a frag grenade.

but what about tanks and turrets from the front? you're f'ed but what about titans? you're f'ed but what about fabricators and bug holes? you're f'ed saying the cannon is superior to the quasar is entirely wrong. they have different uses that's all. and even then quasar is more versatile in what it can achieve

@manubour But what if you're surrounded by multiple hulks, patrol ships, devestators and reinforced stryders? Using the quasar, you're f'ed! The same can be said about the quasar with its 11.5 second recharge. And if you miss your target for some odd reason. You'll be relying more on stratagems like the orbital laser and 500kg or 380 Barrage to take that large group out. But guess what! With a Jammer in the area, you're especially f'ed! If I was in that situation using the Laser cannon. I have the upmost confidence I can take all those enemies out. 💯 But you're right the quasar certainly has its usefulness in certain situations. Especially sniping factories or tanks from afar.

@Xenogaming8417 there's such a thing called primaries These days devs and striders have become, well not trivial to deal with, but largely manageable with all the guns that have medium penetration (especially crossbow, scorcher and purifier) and the thermite grenades While there's no way to effectively deal with the enemies I mentioned with a reasonable ttk if you don't have heavy pen (which technically can be achieved with the senator but ttk is far from reasonable)

yeah the laser cannon's main problem on the bot front is the flinching. with both the quasar and the rocket launcher peeking out of cover to fire is viable

I don't understand people that are telling that one gun is better than the other. Get what you want or looks fun to play, and have fun. My opinion is: all guns are good, my friend can't play with granade launcher, but I find it very viable for bots and especially bugs. Just try out every gun, and see what fits your taste

@LiterallyGoku. Good point. But I primarily run lv.10 solos 95% of the time. The quasar can't save you from 3 hulks, multiple devastators, patrol ships with a jammer near by. I would much rather have the laser cannon with me and wipe out all of the above rather than the quasar that has an 11.5 second recharge. The fab sniping is cool. But that's nothing my thermite can't handle. Quasar comes more in handy when you play in a group with other helldivers. There's no other weapon that has a boom quite like the quasar. 👍

@genin8562 Quasar is certainly useful! I just don't like that I can't use it as a primary weapon. If a helldivwr is caught with 3 hulks, patrol ships, reinforced stryders and patrols ships. The quasar is taking out 1 hulk and then you're stuck. I don't like relying on stratagems like orbital laser or 500gk to get out of hairy situations like those. Matter of fact I can't recall the last time I carried a 500kg with me. 🤔 There is no other weapon that explodes quite like the quasar. Hence the outro to this video!

You can also shoot the leg of a hulk and dmg it, making it unabke to run and walk correctly. Very affective on the flamethrower variant, they wont be able to chase you down, making you akways out of range to them.

I like to pair it with eruptor. And 90% of the time i wasnt using stun nades so i switched to thermite. Rocket pods to take care of tanks and towers,

@snap26neo Agreed 👍. I ran these test with both thermite and stun G in hand. Thermite is a must if you're doing solo runs! I use the crossbow as my primary. I'll have to test run the eruptor. I haven't used it at all as of yet. But I've heard many good things about it!

Very underrated weapon. Extremely effective against bots. I think you failed to mention its ability to relatively quickly remove chin miniguns from factory striders. It can't really kill it fast, but it can make it significantly less dangerous pretty easily.

Personally, I dig the laser cannon for bots and the Quasar for bugs. Perfectly timing a shot against a careening charger with the Quasar is too dopamine-inducing to pass up. Makes me feel like an old timey big game hunter with a great big single-shot rifle against a rhinoceros.

Only at low levels. If you're fighting 6 and up then you'll run into multiple heavies at a time. At 9 you'll see maybe two or three titans and three Chargers at a time. Recoilless or Spear are much more effective. By the time you've cooled down for shot #2 on the Quasar, I'm already loading shot 3 on the Spear with two Chargers dead. Lock and fire means I don't even have to only on target for more than a sec.

The laser cannon is a unique weapon and very good - jack of all trades but master of none, very versatile and reliable. My two cents regarding your clips: 1. I strongly recommend using 3rd person view. You lose situational awareness with laser cannon if you do it as in your video. 2. Fire from cover, never from the open. That might be different for the quasar as it is only used for heavies. But it requires you to eat through your grenades and stims in no time when used with the laser cannon. CCC : cover, courage, and more cover. Extremely true for laser cannon.

@ludewich Seriously using 1st person can make me lose sight of flanking enemies. The liberator guard dog can help with that. I'll try and use more of the 3rd person when using the laser cannon and see if I could still hit the weak points just as well! More work to be done! 📝

I always worry when people call attention to my glorious laser cannon for fear of nerf. It can literally do anything. Bile titan, check, harvester, check, tanks, objectives, open c-cans, spore towers, even shrieker nests with patience... all with unlimited ammo.

It's mid. There's nothing as cool you can do with it that's as good as killing hulks easily, or even tanks. Chargers and titans can take a lot of abuse from the laser. It's steady ammo-free trash clear, especially on cold planets though.

It's an acquired taste, against the bugs you notice its low dps the most, but I do still think it has its place. I recommend using it alongside a unwieldy primary, like the erupter and putting the LC on primary duty, so to speak. Alsobit had great ergonomic, so the opportunity cost of running it alongside the medic armor is very low. The biggest issue is that it struggles with anything heavier then a charger (funnily though, I think I has an easier time taking out a titan then a charger). Thermite and the rocket Pods combine well with it. Thermite I don't think needs explanation, the pods though; they can hurt chargers a lot to the point where mopping them up is easy and they 1 shoot impalers surprisingly consistently. Not be best for titans, but like I said, the LC struggles with titans less then chargers and even then it is far from the worst thing to toss at one.

This might be true, but the game offers different weapons for different types of players. I myself dont like the HMG, i cant handle the recoil or the drag. But thats on me. And thats why i love the laser cannon: No recoil No drag ,,infinite" ammo And i just love energy weapons in general.

The Laser Cannon seems pretty good for taking out enemies but I mostly use the Quasar because it can snipe fabricators and blow up dropships. I believe that's the main purpose of it, anyway- to just be an infinitely reusable E.A.T.

@paprus5972 All valid points! What kills it for me is the 11.5 recharge time on it. I like to use my stratagem weapon as my primary. That cannot be done with the quasar. I think the recoiless rifle would be better than the quasar if it comes down to taking out drop ships. Quasar still has it's best ability which is like you've mentioned. Sniping Fabs from across the map! 👍

You just made the point that the Q. Cannon is better. If i'm going to throw a grenade at a hulk, its going to be a thermite, and walk away. if you need stun grenades to made the LC work, you are wasting your time and grenades.

I was experimenting with the stun to see how well it would work paired up with the laser cannon. Thermites are my go to. Especially because 95% of my runs on lv.10 solos. @bathin7941 finding ammo is not always the case. If you have the recoiless for example and are next to a jammer with 3 hulks plus multiple patrol ships and devastators all coming at you. The recoiless or quasar or spear isn't going to save you in that scenario. But the laser cannon will. Could take out all those targets in no time.

If you do you could take out hulks, patrol ships, devastators and reinforced stryders all within reasonable time without relying on your orbitals or 500kg, especially when you're by a jammer. I could care less for jammers when I'm carrying the laser cannon or railgun, with thermite also in the arsenal. That's all you need! Thanks for chiming in Helldiver 🫡
