How to Protect Trees from Deer

In this tip video, Larry uses a cheap and effective way to keep deer from destroying his apple trees! It only cost less than 50 cents and last months! If you have a problem with animals and your fruit trees you need to try it!

This totally works for me! Not going to say 100% guaranteed but for the cost it's worth a try. I'm on day three of soap on a rope and my trees have yet to be molested by those hooved miscreants(aka 🦌)! Plus this is saving me hundreds of dollars in fencing. At my last house I had couple acres and about 50 fruit and nut trees. I used to get 3 ft tall chicken wire, cut the width to form a piece 2x the diameter of the trunk and just hang it with string from low branches. Never had deer damage to any tree protected with that.

I used Irish spring soap to stop deer eating hostas, worked great.

I've always thought soap kills plant roots if it gets in the soil. Did your trees stay healthy? I would like to use your tip but I might try to put some kind of a container below the soap.

I've heard that soap is beneficial because it keeps the soil loose and aids water penetration. Like anything else, though, too much of a good thing should be avoided.
