Thanks Vasili! Sitting in my sick bed (covid) watching the garden and I saw this so I went out in my pj's and pruned the tree. Much appreciated! Great advice and clip.

Saw this pop up on my youtube feed. Honestly a great video. You've done an excellent job pruning this fig tree. A very satisfying watch!

Hi Vasili, how do you always manage to answer my questions before I even ask them? 😂 I have a fig that the previous owners of my house planted. I already dug it up and potted it a few years ago, and was just wondering yesterday how to prune it. Thank you!

That’s handy to know! I bought a “Figalicious” dwarf, does anyone know if it’s top or bottom bearing? I can’t find any info on the internet.

Great advice thanks Vasili. Would a dwarf dog tree do ok in a half wine barrel rather than planting in the ground? If so, what varieties would be best. Thanks and love your segments, especially on 3aw

Hi Vasili After I prune someones tree can I use some of the cuttings to try to start new plants for myself. When is best time to propogate figs?

Can you show us your figs in pots please. Trying pots myself with limited success. Cheers

Great info thanks Vasili. Would the same pruning advice apply to a dwarf mulberry?

Yes, pretty much. Cut away any dead or dying branches and any rubbing or crossing branches. Trim back any branches that are growing outside of the desired shape of the tree to help reshape the tree.

The only thing I’d add is please consider using wildlife-friendly netting on your fruit trees to help protect native wildlife. Native Australian Flying foxes and other animals become entangled in regular netting, which often results in severe injuries or the need for euthanasia. Wildlife-friendly netting has smaller holes and is much safer, allowing you to protect your fruit without causing harm to our native wildlife.

In Victoria we can only use wildlife friendly netting for residential gardens.

Hi Vasilli, we have got an old Fig tree that was planted right next to our house. I am concerned about the roots damaging the foundation so I have attempted to cut some branches and pot them with some hormone powder at the base of the cut off branches, if all works well I will be chopping down the old tree and digging out the root systems. Would love it if you could make a video on propogation as my attempts have not been successful? Any advise?
