It should be mentioned that you don't want to fully extend without a target. You punch the air full force, you're gonna have a terrible pain in your elbow joint.
@Last-_-Yuto
@Last-_-Yuto 3 ай бұрын
That means your elbow weak or u have zero energy control. Shadow boxing is a thing as well as proper form will cancel that pain in the elbow

I've been going full extension for over a decade in my shadowboxing, sometimes at full power. No issues at all. There is full extension and then there is overextending. You have to know your body.

Tips: 1.Load up with proper turning. 2. Stay loose then harden just before impact. 3. Breathe 4. Proper form

Good tips. But I would caution against locking out the arm fully. Just short of lockout is better for preserving your elbows, imo. Thanks for the video.

If one punches enough time then the motor neurons become more efficient, just like in weightlifting. There is the coordination thing, but one also becomes good at exerting force trough one's nervous system.

Nope. It’s just wasting energy. Maybe good for cardio. But bench press heavy and you will hit plenty hard enough. It has to be flat bench press though
@S.O.A_Zero
@S.O.A_Zero 4 ай бұрын
@@solslastcannula5665I doubt that. I punch way harder than guys with the same experience as me and who bench more than me. All i do is punching hard. I train calisthenics, but don't have any flat press variation for chest. Obviously a correct weightlifting routine will lead to better performance, but just punching hard increased masively the strength of my punches. But the main muscles for punching strength are not the pecs. The main muscles are quads, calves, triceps, front delts and serratus anterior. So, the best exercises are front raises, any single leg variation of the squat and french press.

@@S.O.A_Zero French press will give you arthritis of the elbows. I don’t know about pecs not being important. For me they contract like hell
@S.O.A_Zero
@S.O.A_Zero 4 ай бұрын
@@solslastcannula5665 French press won't give you arthritis if you don't do hundreds of repetitions, but if you do that any excercise would give you arthritis. Either that, or you have unlucky genetics and you would've got arthritis later on in life. The way you train pecs should be determined depending on your height. If you're shorter than your opposition, you're goimg to use a lot of upper chest along with the other muscles when you get tired and do drills. So, an incline bench or declined push ups would be optimal, usually more in a higher rep range (12-20) to stimulate more endurance. If you're taller or just usually as tall as your opponents, a flat bench is perfect.
@NickyBobby-wx6ig
@NickyBobby-wx6ig 2 ай бұрын
@@solslastcannula5665The majority of power from a punch comes from the legs and the hip flexors. Bench press can increase power, sure. But if you don't know how to utilize that power then it's useless. I'd say leg training has a better carry over effect than upper body since power in generated starting from the legs. Jump squats, swinging a weighted ball against a wall, plyometrics, stuff like that will increase punching power more than anything.

great vid... all the right information. I also have experience and I can vouge that this is all correct... just a little constructive criticism with respect of course... it could be that I am holding my son and he was screaming and I didn't hear it lol, but I didn't hear sparring even mentioned and I think sparring is the best way to develop a fighter. everything else is good too but sparring is the most effective even for developing power because it teaches the fighter to land shots on someone who is moving and throwing back, along with the things you mentioned in terms of bag work and all that... but a fighter can only spar and still be a complete fighter, but the bags will not make you a good fighter on their own without sparring and that is something that modern coaches do not teach or emphasize enough in my opinion... cheers man good vid.

@@charlesrazo7246 Thats flat wrong, sorry. I had zero punching power when i started kickboxing 20 years ago. Took me 3 years to learn decent boxing technique. Once my deadlift got over x2 bodyweight people no longer liked getting hit by me. Plus ive coached moms and dads in commercial gyms and got them some punching power. The reason old times coaches say "punching power is born" is because these people also said "weight lifting makes you slow" and didnt train athleticism. the Soviets were the ones to develop Sports Science and the West just caught up recently. Boxing starts with weeding out the kids that naturally cant box thus leaving the naturals - they never bothered to DEVELOP athletes. Im not saying everyone can be trained to Pro, but people can learn to punch things a lot harder than they are 'born' with.
