How to purify questionable drinking water - without using bleach

Just went to see about ordering one of the water filtering bottles. Was going to checkout with PayPal until I found out what the shipping cost would be. The bottle itself is $36.95, but the shipping to Charlotte, NC is a whopping $47.07 which brings the cost of the water bottle shipped to your home to over $84. That is totally ridiculous. Guess I'll have to stick with my filtering straw.

I agree, the shipping rates have gone through the roof in the last 3 weeks, so I negotiated better rates with a carrier. If you send me your email I will send you new shipping costs and see if it works for you. It should be considerably less.

Sounds like a commercial, you wouldn’t carry a jug of bleach just a visine bottles worth and it’s one hundredth the price of that filter bottle

It is a commercial for all the advantages over bleach. Bleach would not remove any debris, chemicals or bacteria, it would only kill some viruses. The bottle does all those things. Make sure though you rinse out the Visine bottle as that is another poison that you are adding more poison into and then plan to ingest. Also hope that bottle does not leak while carrying it around. By the way bleach degrades to nothing in 6 months. Not good planning or well thought out. But you did save $30 over a lifetime.

how do you know when you have used 100 gallons? i plan on putting well water thru it.

It varies based on the cleanliness of the water. Well water with no debris will easily give you over 100 gallons. Probably closer to 150. The 100 gallon number is based on lake water with debris. When the filter is full it will not allow any more water through. This is when you would need to change filters or go to your next Water Bottle Filter. Hope this helps.

Boiling water in an emergency may not be an option. In remote areas boiling may not be an option or limited fuel for fire. You may prefer to save your fuel in both cases for food preparation. It is another option and tool in dire circumstances. Try boiling a 100 gallons of water some time to see how much time and resources is involved. You would then appreciate the Water Bottle convivence.

Yes it is. I promote and sell products that I know and have used that can have a positive impact in an emergency or disaster. There many questionable and un-tested solutions out there. As a retired firefighter, I believe in using tools and products that will deliver in a real emergency.
