Do you just drop it into the water when you unload or how does it get to the water?

You could do that he just carries it to the water. But for sure you could back to the water's edge and drop it in.

I GOT A PLUGE in WIRE FOR THE LIGHTER , I AND CLAMPED THE CONTROL WIRE ON TO THE WIRE, THAT I GOT PLUGGED INTO THE LIGHTER, IT'S ALOT EASYER, PLUGE IT IN, AND UNPLUGE IT OUT, THE WINCH WORK PERFECT, 😎

I would think it would be no problem as long as the bike is not too heavy . Just make sure of the weight of the total . Bike and Trailer. if it is small I see no problem good luck hope this helps .
