Thanks for this video. I have just watched another video before this one where the guy said to align the reed with the tip of the mouthpiece, not slightly above or under it. It's something I am still questioning after learning the sax about 2 years now, but I believe it would have been this video that I watched when I started and in my experience, I hardly get it to work when aligned exactly but it seems to blow freely when I place it slight below the tip seeing just a tiny bit of the MP. I also just bought my second sax last week, a tenor this time. Oh boy, I'm struggling getting the proper sound out, a totally different beast. The reason I am back checking these videos. :) I wasn't getting the sound out, like it's blocked when I blow and thought the sax had a problem, but it was checked by an expert when I purchased it. Somewhere I read that it should not be blown from the tip, but at the location where the reed meets the MP. It seems to work, but I read also that it needs a stronger reed, and I have been using the Legere synthetic ones for durability while learning, using the 1 3/4 signature on alto but the same for Tenor is blocking. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a 2.5. What you think of all that? Thanks.

You can't speak of putting your mouthpiece on the neck without talking about tuning first.

Sometimes, yes, you do need to push harder than feels comfortable. Some cork grease (or vaseline) can help. You can get easily get cork grease for saxophones from your local music shop.
