YES!!!! And don't scrimp on the details. We new guys that don't know all the jargon and can't look at a hook and know what size it is or see a lure and know what weight or size it is would be very much thankful!!!!!! It's tough when you've been doing it so long to remember not being second nature. But no detail is too small. I watch your videos with a Word Doc open and go back and watch and pause and watch and pause, trying to get every bit of info written down.!!! Much appreciated!!!!!

A month ago I searched youtube on how to spool braid on a spinning reel. I watched several videos with different methods ranging from putting backing on the reel before spooling the braid to putting electrical tape on the reel before the line. Then I watched, Jordan, and how he does it. Simple, direct, easy, no frills, no bullshit. Have done this method on all of my spinning reels and it works. Thanks, Jordan, for keeping it simple and for educating me on how to do it.

THANK YOU! GREAT VIDEO. I watched easily 5 or 6 other videos and none of them were as clear and concise as this video. The only thing I would add is making sure the direction that the line is unspooling is the same as the reel is spinning so you don't get twists. This video was the one that actually got me all set up and ready for fishing this weekend. Thank you!

Love the basics. What diversifies your product is the education. It’s like how Johnny Bench used to teach us how to field a ball in the Saturday episode immediately after This Week In Baseball. Addicted fishing is like Johnny Bench and the Baseball Bunch and how he, Tommy LaSorda, and the Chicken would teach you how to do the basics like run out of a pickle or play pepper. You can watch great baseball and bass pro fishing all day or you can watch ADX and also learn how to try and fish well, too. Only, instead of running to the Woolworths to buy Topps baseball cards, I end up buying ADX worms and jigs that I won’t need in my part of town til March. But, I love looking at them.

Nice With the knot on the spool...I actually take the braid and put it on an old reel/rod then transfer the line from that one to my actually rod/reel....reason for that is I can set the drag on old rod and reel so the line is spooled onto the new one nice and tight...braid tends to sink into the spool if it isn't spooled fairly tight

Have not fished in almost 60 years. Oh and I should tell you. I am a grandma..well gramps and I decided we where going fishing. We are retired living in Florida. So you fish right? So got new poles today and have plans to go to the pier in am. When I notice we have everything but the line on the pole...oh no. Gramps says I can do that 5 mins... Well 30 mins later tells me...take them back. There are broke..well the smarty pants that I am ..i say let me see the pole..now I am reading and getting confused. Reel, bail , brake, this bail has to be up no down. ???? First I asked like a good wife for explainions of these words. Lol .. Reading was going to be best way to learn.. And watching.. You did a fabulous job I laugh and giggled , learned played with the reel up and down the bail, line, Had not mastered in any way but feel much better about fishing in the morning. So kudos to you and this video. It is great for us beginners. By the way I stopped fishing when I found out fish had teeth back in the early 60s . caught a bluecolored fish this was up north finger lakes in NY. Was told it was a blue pike. Some are yellow..and I caught him with a rubber worm. Must have done something right I had hooked him good. But did not have pliers to grab the hook so I was going to just wiggle the hook to see if I could get the hook off. As I was just about to stick my fingers near his mouth I heard someone yelling STOP..STOP. I looked around saw no one looking at me so started again..and again NO NO STOP BUT much louder now..about 5 seconds later the man came up to me and said " I am so glad you have all your fingers.." Looking at this man said what?? Fish don't have fingers! Ohhh the man said.Then he stick his fingers in the fishes eyes and I was told..to get a piles mouth open you do this...yucky..but ok..amazed at all the teeth in that mouth.the man grabbed his pliers and got the hook out.After laughing cause he found my rubber worm amazed I caught anything.but he weight the pike it was 31 inches long and I forget the weight . But there was enough fish. For 5 people to all have 2or 3 large pieces each. But never fished after that day. Until now I am going to try to relax and fish for a few hours or more.. Thanks again for your videos I will be watching more tomorrow. Got to learn ! Lol

Like this approach, though I have also seen other fishing channels that say to wind on flourocarbon or mono first so the braid has something to grab. They've said that just winding on straight braid, you take a chance of the braid not grabbing the spool. What are your thoughts on this?

@springstevens84223 жыл бұрын
So is it better to tie off right to the spinner? I've always tied spinners to a barrel swivel and spoons to just a snap? Mainly so I could just cycle through different lures to see what the fish are biting or to switch to bait if need be, Always just figured with the lure moving at a fairly decent pace the fish will just react fast and not really get a good look at it? Or is more to do with the action you get on the spinner?

So, I just went trout fishing over father's day weekend with my 85 year old uncle. I followed your setup from the Trout 101 video for 3 different poles. The uncle has been fishing for like 60 years, and would not stop commenting on how my braided line setup was wrong. He kept complaining that the line was too heavy and that I wouldn't be able to cast as far as with lightweight mono line. I enjoyed fishing, but did notice that my line wasn't travelling as far on the cast. Any thoughts?
