Wow, this is eye opening. I've been doing this since I was a kid and never knew it was a formal process. Sometimes melodies come to me in my dreams. I'm going to get serious about writing songs with lyrics now.

I went through the entire Studio website , all these professional musicians and all, but none of them managed to explain this concept so beautifully and simply. Thank you, a world of thank you to you ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I would like to say, this was beautifully laid out to help understand as a new/novice writer. I love my lyrics but it was missing something and now I understand! I sounded so monotone like you said, thats when it clicked!!! I "needed something more exciting" Thank you soo so much your amazing!

Yeah I really needed this video too. I sounded monotone too and I really need some advice on how to actually start a melody. How’s it going now with your songs? I am definitely doing to use this tomorrow and hopefully I can actually make a song :)

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! ❤ Ive got just over 50 songs written (just the lyrics) that ive been hoarding since my freshman year of HS and now that i am done with school i thought id give a go at writing the instrumentals! Couldnt find a single video on youtube (until yours) about how to go about writing to lyrics already written. Most videos popping up were "how to write lyrics" but i think i got that part down lol Anyways, you're amazing and thank you for covering this niche! 🤘

You certainly have the talent to a take a complex system for "connecting melody and lyrics" from an art to a science that is understandable.

I absolutely love this video, thank you so much for this beautiful and easy demonstration. I’m a singer/songwriter, but I’ve struggled with making Melodie’s the most and have been afraid of trying to make them myself. I found this video so helpful and motivating. I was also confused with what route to take with Melodies especially with my ADHD making it harder, so thank you so much for this ♥️

I can't tell you how many workshops I've been to, and it doesn't seem like they get into the nuts and bolts of stuff like this like it seems they should. I used this method to figure out the meter to several of my songs, including the rhythmic pattern. And this method does help to bridge the disconnect between your musical content and the melody. Good video!

Hi Elise not being musically knowledgeable at all, i have spent so much time over the years reading and watching theories on how to create and write your own music and been totally confused. Then suddenly i come across your page and bang. Everything explained in simple terms with step by step examples away from the technical side. Amazing and so helpful, now my number one Page to keep following. BIG thumbs up to such great work, keep it up keep smiling. Thank you ;)

I've been looking for videos/info re putting melody to lyrics (not vice versa) and finding it hard to find such. This was the first which hit the mark and was actually very useful even though I'm looking for something wider/deeper which can encompass more complex rhythm/time and longer segments of lyrics.

This question has really been bothering me about where to start lyrics or melody. To me your approach of lyrics first sounds to me to be better.
@butterflyj6853 жыл бұрын
Wow, this video was so helpful! Thank you for all your tips! For the rhythm exercise, I'm a little confused. In your example: "needed SUM-thing more ex-Cite-ing." If "NEED-ed" is a 2 syllable word, please explain, why didn't (NEED) also get the stressed beat in your example? Also, I thought we were to also stress nouns and verbs and since "needed" can be either based on how it's used in the phrased, I'd assume that was another reason to stress it.
@dawtersongs3 жыл бұрын
Hi Butterfly J, thanks so much for your comment. This is a great question. For me, its more about saying the phrase naturally, as you would in conversation (and less about the syllables themselves). Try to listen to how you say the phrase and hear where you naturally put the stresses. There might be multiple ways to say it, so you might get different stresses each time. That’s ok too. There is no one correct answer. Hope that helps!
