How to put on a pre tied bow tie

Sorry, but you don't leave the bell-shaped piece to the left of the sizing hole that you slip the T-shaped piece into, like you have it. Instead you slide that bell-shaped piece past the correct sizing hole all the way to the right BEFORE you insert the T-shaped piece into the hole. Inserting the T-shaped piece into the sizing hole creates a loop with the right end of the bowtie and the bell-shaped piece should be at the"top" of the loop, which then engages with the hook on the left end of the tie.

His way is better when the bowtie is almost the exact size as your neck and you only need to adjust a little bit. If you do it your way, the bell-shaped piece can be seen. When using his way, the collar hides that part.
