Thanks for the video. I was having trouble with the stuck to the ground feet, but your solution worked like a charm. Subscribed!

@puttinonthefritz3dvisualiz you have any tuts on metahuman/Character interaction with SM's, foliage etc in sequencer cinematics?
@puttinonthefritz3dvisualiz26 күн бұрын
@@CEODeliveryBoy No, I have not done any tutorials with Sequencer. I'm guessing this would be for an animation sequence. I have not experimented with it yet, but I did just see a demo for 5.5 where the character walked around some dangling static meshes, like vines, and the meshes moved as the character got close to them.

Great video! I’m new to Unreal and I’ve been stuck for hours. I have a quick question tho, I see there are several functions in the metahuman blueprint, something like the ARKit and some others. I tried to copy them into the Manny blueprint but it doesn’t seem to allow me to do that. And I see the animation is just fine without these functions. So my question is what do these functions do and is it okay to just ignore them? Becuz at first I was trying to copy the input from the Manny to metahuman blueprint but then I found the metahuman blueprint is an AActor class not a character class so the input is not working. So are we missing out some functionalities by just taking the mesh to the Manny blueprint? Much appreciated and again I truly love ur video!❤

I'm glad the video helped. As far as the blueprints that are on the MetaHuman before you transfer the mesh, these are mostly for animating the MetaHuman. Using Live Link and ARKit is a way to capture facial movement from an actor and applying them to your MetaHUman. You don't really need these blueprints using the MetaHuman as a player character, but if you intend to have cut scenes in your game, you can use the original MetaHuman BPs to animate these. As you pointed out, the Actor Class and the Character Class are different which is why we are moving the mesh only from the MetaHuman to the Manny or Quinn so that you can use the input system to control them. These two pages help explain the difference between Characters and Skeletal Mesh Actors. dev.epicgames.com/documentation/en-us/unreal-engine/characters-in-unreal-engine and dev.epicgames.com/documentation/en-us/unreal-engine/skeletal-mesh-actors-in-unreal-engine. Thanks again for the question and for watching my tutorial.

I'm a newb at unreal and using your video helped me a lot. I ran into a slight issue with the torso lining up with the hands(body) but I got it. It may be that I'm using 5.3 instead of 5.2. I'm not sure. Just had to assign the correct animation for the torso before it would line up. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, it seems every new UE update breaks something. I haven’t had time to work with Metahumans in 5.3 and now 5.4 is out. Hopefully I will get a chance over the summer to make some new videos using Metahumans in 5.4.

thanks for the video. any idea why my MetaHuman is spawning and moving right above the surface? I used short character so is that the reason?
@puttinonthefritz3dvisualiz5 ай бұрын
Without seeing what is happening, I can only guess at what the issue might be. It sounds like you may need to adjust your character mesh inside of the capsule collider. Select the character mesh and drag it down until the feet are even with the bottom point of the capsule collider. If this is not the problem, please let me know and give me a little more information.

by the way your mic is only coming from the left, you may have stereo mic enabled in windows, it needs to be on mono unless you have 2 mics recording your voice from your left and right hand side

LoL. I've also done this in Unity. I'm not sure I totally agreed that it is easier, but different? Yes, it is. What is a lot easier is the Animation and skeleton retargeting. The tools in UE 5.2 make it so easy now.

I got my character in the project but now it runs very slow, are the metahumans super dense in terms of polys? any way to lessen the load?

I have not had an issue with the metahuman moving slowly. Is it moving the same speed as the regular third person, Quinn? The MetaHumans do have a lot more meshes, but they are designed to work in Unreal 5 and should not be causing a slowdown issue. I would try to adjust the Max Walk Speed. It is 500 cm/s by default. If you open the character blueprint you created for your metahuman, there should be on the lefthand side under Components a selectable component called Character Movement. Once selected, under details there are a lot of adjustable options. One of these is Max Walk Speed. Hopefully this helps. Otherwise, I am not sure what the issue is without seeing how you have it set up.

why everything unreal is so complex and difficult. this windoow this tab this side..wait no need start again. (this is my what eva working think now use this do same thing. cant be so hard?) unity just add character contoller boom thats that LOL
@puttinonthefritz3dvisualiz Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry it is giving you such a high level of frustration. Just stick with it. It will become easier and make a lot of sense. I started off using Unity and even teaching Unity. I started using Unreal and had many of the same issues, but Unreal does make sense and is easier as you use it more. I like that you can use both C++ and Blueprints in the same project if you want, or you can just use full Blueprints. Don't give up yet!!!

I've only played with them a little as I have had time. I had a class recently where someone asked if you can put your MetaHuman in as a player character. I had in the past, so I showed them how, but there was this little bug this time, so after finding a work around, I decided to create the video for others running into the same "feature".
