How to quickly install WordPress on Windows using XAMPP - Wordpress Local setup in 2021

Setting up Wordpress on Windows 10 is actually really easy in 2021! Lets quickly go over how to set up Wordpress on Windows 10.
Wordpress download: wordpress.org/download/
XAMPP download: www.apachefriends.org/downloa...
Once you download Wordpress and XAMPP, installing Wordpress on windows 10 is super easy!
You need to follow these simple steps that we cover in the video:
1. Download Wordpress
2. Download XAMPP
3. Run XAMPP and start MySQL and Apache
4. Add a MySQL Wordpress database
5. Paste Wordpress in the htdocs folder
6. Navigate to localhost
7. Walk through the Wordpress setup wizard
8. Congratulations! You have setup Wordpress on windows 10 or 11!!!

Great tutorial, thank you for this. I did learn that the latest XAMPP was not compatible with the latest WP. Downgraded my XAMPP to 7.x and it then worked.

How do you set up htdocs if you are working on many websites at once? Just put the WP files under a separate folder for each one?

Done every step twice, experiencing the same thing, looks good via local host but when I try to view it from outside the images do not come through, and if i change from just the stock theme to one of the other few choices it appears just as text in various sizes. Is this an issue with my router not letting content go through or some sort of site certificate??

As long as you set up a web server and then run through the WP install, you should be able to fully customize and access WP locally.

The critical error is probably an issue with WordPress connecting to your sql server. That's really hard to diagnose Without setting it up myself since there are a lot of reasons the connection can fail
