Great Video Drew , part of the reason these ML164s are cheap is people are terrified of the air suspension. Thanks for giving us the confidence to tackle this

Thanks Drew. Great Aussie work mate. I agree. There are somethings you just dont need to do. I'll have a look at the cars history before i do the rears mate to see if the prev guy did anything, as he's kept every work and receipts for the car which is why i pick it up. I've only had my GL 500 x164 (06) for 6 months and I wish i got the car sooner. There a great car mate. Thanks for your previous advice on the front suspension. A very valuable video, considering the failure rate of this suspension. I have a question, did you have to calibrate anything after replacing the air spring? Or just replace it and that's it?
@DrewFixItАй бұрын
Hi Mate, I didn’t calibrate my suspension after replacing the air springs. In my mind nothing changed wrt the actual ride height sensor and the associated geometry, therefore I didn’t think that it was necessary. Having said that my iCarsoft CR PRO+ scanner is capable of doing calibrations and perhaps I try that feature out in a video! Is this something that you would like to see? Cheers Drew

Hi Lad , what kind of ride was you having before replacing ( stiff ride , no rebound etc ) ? TIA

Hi Mate, the ride quality didn’t change. At the end of the day it is a bag with air in it and it is the strut that it is doing the damping. Cheers Drew

Drew, how are these air springs holding up after 2 years. I’m about to do mine. Ordered the same ones you’ve used.
@DrewFixIt Жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, there are no issues at all that I am aware of. Last time I serviced the car (around Christmas time) I took the rear wheels off to check the rear brakes and whilst I had the wheels off I deliberately checked the bags visually and they look really good with no visible signs of wear! Cheers Drew

Excellent videos 👍 I wonder how long this brand air spring lasts.
@DrewFixIt2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shawn, great question! These air springs have been on the rear of my car now for over 2 years now and I was wondering the same thing so I actually did a close inspection of them last weekend and they show absolutely no signs of wear. By comparison the original Mercedes air springs were visually rotted and cracked that I removed from the car. So from my perspective they are just as good if not better than the OEM Mercedes part! Cheers Drew
