Just started pigs this winter/spring. Using the stall and deep bedding method suggested by Justin. It is working great so far. All bedding we are cycling to the chickens (mixing compost and eating feed not picked up by pigs) then right to the garden. Now, just waiting on the bacon to fatten up

my bacon seeds will be here soon. using a mix of this idea and the premiere one fences for them. thank you for all the information.

I've been wanting to get a couple of pigs. I didn't think I would have the space. However, I am now rethinking this. Thank you for the great information and sharing your knowledge once again. ✌💜😎

A lot of the same principles of Korean Natural Farming pigs, minus the added beneficial microbes and more planned out bedding material. I like it, very simple

2k worth of pork in my area. Entire start up in my area about 2k. I think worst case scenario it is a years worth of pork paid for year 1 in cost. After year 1, or second pair year 1 it's a steal on pork. Great video. Think about it people. If not this...... still...... just grow something.

Awesome lesson. Thanks Justin!!! Love your stuff. Wife and I are looking for land in East TN, KY, western NC, WV & VA to homestead. She met ya’ll when you drove through MN on your farm tour. If you know of any land sellers, send em our way. We want to homeschool too.

I asked this before but didn't really get any kind of answer so I'll try again. If pigs can eat cow manure and they spread it out and do that safely, then in the winter, when the chickens dont scratch the paddies for bugs, can you put the pigs in with the cows and move them together? Will they fight?

What is the noise level of a couple of pigs? They seem generally quiet, but I'd like to know if there are noisy moments during the day. I wouldn't be able to keep them as far from the house as y'all do.

Thanks for the info Justin, I would like to raise Chickens & Pigs next year. My only concern is will my local township let me :( I also worry about my neighbor. Question, How much would you say you spend on feed for two pigs from the time you buy them as feeders to when your ready to butcher? Also If I raised two pigs, being single, would it be smart to sell one of the pigs to cover some of the cost? (I don't see myself eating that much pork, even though I love pork)
@theJustinRhodesShow4 жыл бұрын
General rule of thumb we use is we feed the pigs one pound a day each for how ever many months they are gonna be. So a pig going on six months old would get 7 pounds of feed a day.

I know I'm about the be an instant critic, but I actually want to do this, but what do you think about the noise? Their squeals might have my landlord scratching his chin, but if it's not bad it's not bad

I have been watching your videos for a couple months now and honestly pigs are the only animal I have felt “compelled” to own one day. My S/O thinks I’ll get too attached and won’t let them be killed 🤦🏻♀️😬 it’s a possibility. Has that ever happened to you? Become too attached you can’t kill them?
@theJustinRhodesShow4 жыл бұрын
Yay! Pigs for everyone. It's always hard to take a life. But the life these pigs are much better than if they were raised conventionally. True love for the pig, right there. You have to put aside your own emotions and do what's right for the pig.

Any chance any of your courses have paper? Like in this video, you have a ton of information, but I find no where, not even as a paid subscriber that can text you directly, any lists of things you need, supplies, etc. Nothing to reference. Please don't forgot about those of us that are book learners.

Given the zoonotic transmission of some illnesses, it is probably best to keep animals the Bible seems as ‘unclean’ off of the homestead and out of our diets. At least keep them far from the home/house. YHVH’s Word is there to bless and protect up.
