I give my pasture turkeys grit to help with digestion of grass and bugs - they eat up the rocks like it's grasshopper on the run. Commercial grit is made from granite chips, but I use marble chips because marble is calcium carbonate, which is essentially lime. Any fine chips/broken down marble that come out the back end will help with neutralizing the soil. It might not be much, but it helps the birds and it helps the soil.

Perimeter fence looks like it’s holding up great! Great to see your systems paying off and making chores easier. Love your videos, thanks for sharing.

Have you considered using Aluminum gutters as feeders? 10 footers at depot are not to expensive. To make them sturdy enough and heavy enough you put a plywood strip along the bottom. end caps also made out of plywood.

We have. Going to add them to our chicken tractors next year.

I think Sow The Land has an instructional on doing that iirc.

@@SheratonParkFarms Something else to consider if you can find a mobile gutter installer They will come to your farm or you could meet them on one of their jobs and they will roll you gutters that are a higher gauge aluminum than you get at depot or lowes.

I was thinking what’s with all the turkeys running towards the fence then I realized they were running into the sun to warm up 😊

Nothin like dumpin feed on the ground! I have a ton of experience doing that 😂! Raised my first 8 pasture raised turkeys this year with non gmo soy free organic feed. Don’t know how any one can turn a profit doing it that way! Think next year I’ll just use regular feed from the local lift.

Do you have a breakdown of what it costs to raise 50 or 100 birds, after the fence and roots are already paid for? Thank you for the video.

Any issues with predators? I get bald eagles primarily. Also, how well to the turkeys stay inside the fence? Do you clip wing feathers? Im worried mine might prefer roosting on my neighbors deck😅

Will turkeys work a compost pile like chickens?

Buy them now while you can . I believe last holiday your couldn't even find them in the grocery store . Even if you could they were priced very high.

I was looking to see how much the total purchase price is for one of your turkeys but only saw deposit information. Is that listed somewhere else on your website?
