Ok just the clarify, in Sweden for example we have a mandatory driving course on slippery roads. It's basically a course in how to recover a car, in order to recover a car you must loose controll of the car and that's why we teach people the scandi flick. We're not scandi flickin our way into parking spots :D

Corner linking is pretty crucial.. if you screw up on the first corner, you're gonna have a bad time on the 2nd corner Weight transfer matters in this game.
@KevinLindstromMedia8 ай бұрын
Your remarks about focusing on consistency first is really important. However, I feel that even beginners benefit from knowing about advanced techniques so they can start to apply them when comfortable. Additionally, I think corner linking is something every player regardless of skill should think about! Beginners won’t be able to spot and take the best line, but to have awareness of how corners work together is important for beginners to not slide off the track and hit cliffs! That all being said, I’m coming up on 100 hours in dirt 2 so I really appreciate the articulate advice. Excited to practice, cheers!

Great tips. I play with a gamepad (Dual Shock 4) and have Clutch bound to L1, and Handbrake bound to Right Stick > Right. This allows me to do the necessary mix of handbrake, throttle, brake, and clutch while still steering, allowing clutch kicks at the end of hairpins and similar situations. Also, having the analog input of the analog stick for the handbrake is seriously game changing! When you just use a button, it's 100% handbrake every time you press it, which can kill a lot of speed or send you into too strong a slide. Being able to tap it for 20% power, juuuust enough to get the back end sliding without killing too much speed or losing control, is tremendous!
@suchiruakuma67354 жыл бұрын
This is what I am planning with a 3 pedal setup hahaha I am comfortable with a sequential passive clutch so the clutch pedal would be my feathered handbreak while still have access with an instant 100% just in case I need it the most.

@averagebrownguy41934 жыл бұрын
Which transmission do you use? Because the clutch ones only allow h pattern so I cant use the clutch.
@vahnn04 жыл бұрын
@@averagebrownguy4193 Manual Sequential. You don't need to clutch for every shift, but you can press the clutch button to use the clutch at any time, even when the driver isn't shifting. Sometimes you're better off doing a "clutch kick" instead of downshifting, which is just pressing in the clutch while hitting the throttle for a moment to get the revs high, giving you better acceleration. You can also use it in RWD cars, or AWD cars with the torque balance mostly to the rear, to get the revs really high to cause the rear tires to spin and lose traction. You can do this after you've started your turn-in to swing the back end of the car around a turn rather than using the handbrake.

What i will say is kind of obvious but listening CAREFULLY the co driver is essencial, now, with that what i do (because he is giving info, normally, two turns ahead) is two repeat in my head what he said. this for me became quite useful, specially coming out of a very hard turn or set of turns. I have a question. It is mentioned in the video that left foot braking helps with mid corner corrections, but what about throttle modulation? Does that not do the same thing? I.e. lift off oversteer.
@humandroid534 жыл бұрын
Correct. I'm a fairly casual player but constantly use lifting off the throttle to get the car to grip and turn. Only a little bit at a time but it does the job and keeps you in your flow. A dab of the brakes helps a bit more, another dab if you're a little fast. You want to maintain momentum as much as possible.

No expert but it helped me in general when I though of gas and break as more so a means of adding and removing grip from wheels. Gas and brake shift the cars weight one way or the other and if you ask yourself where the grip needs to be you can start implementing the required inputs to get maximum grip where its needed.

Thanks for another great video. Just curious about something. I don't have a h-pattern shifter so I only use the paddles. Do the same heel-toe principles apply? In game I use manual sequential gearing
@LastWaltz1235 жыл бұрын
I think the game kicks the clutch for you as with most sequential gearboxes. You can map the clutch and enable clutch override in the assists and still make use of clutch kicking though heel toe shifting isnt required.

What LastWaltz123 said. Real sequential shifters also don't require clutch kicking as the cars electronics handle the perfect rev-matching for you.
