Thank you. You make this look so easy. I have my material, and stapler but I haven’t had the nerve to start pulling my chai apart. Now I feel it won’t be as difficult or daunting as I thought. Your help is much appreciated. Cheers, Marie. ‘Downunder’

Good luck, just go for it. I was apprehensive at first, then realised that the chair looked awful in the state it was so had nothing to lose.

It’s a cotton upholstery fabric. No stretch in the fabric

Thanks for sharing. When our cat was a kitten she used both of our chairs as a scratching pole so the fabric is shredded. How did you measure how much fabric to use?
@halesmoore4 жыл бұрын
I originally guessed and bought 7 metres after a rough sizing up as saw some fabric on sale. I used approximately 5 metres from memory and also made a couple of cushions. Bare in mind my patterned fabric doesn’t completely cover both sides of the seat pad. Hope that helps, good luck!

Embarking on the same project and will film as I go and see if it works as well! How many mtrs of fabric did you use?
@halesmoore4 жыл бұрын
Hannah Ellis I overbought on fabric but I think I probably used between 4.5 - 5 metres, but mine doesn’t have patterned fabric on the underside of the seat pad so if you’re does then you need to bare it in mind. Good luck!
@hannahellis45494 жыл бұрын
Ok awesome I was going to buy 5mtrs so I have enough to do a throw cushion too. Mines the same doesn’t have the pattern fabric on the base - does have Velcro to hold the cushion on. Thank you!

Cool video, Hales.... Great fabric too..Always intimidating idea to me but may have to give it a chance....
@halesmoore6 жыл бұрын
Oh you should definitely give it a go. If you didn’t have any cover to use as a base pattern then it would be more tricky to do and you’d have to drape but if you have a staple gun and original covers then it makes it a lot easier to piece together.

Hi, this is a great video. I was just wondering where you found the footstool you used? It goes really well!

I bought the footstool from a shop in the uk called ‘The Range’, so it’s just a cheap one but works well with the chair

So you basically have to know how to use a sewing machine :( Oh well, you did a good job. It looks nice.
@halesmoore5 жыл бұрын
I think someone has done a video about covering chairs without sewing, but yes I did use my sewing machine as it gives a better finish and makes sure there are no gaps between each section.

how much fabric did you use?
@halesmoore4 жыл бұрын
I bought more fabric than I needed (7m), so I think I used between 4.5 - 5 metres. Bare in mind that this chair doesn’t have the patterned fabric running across the underneath of the seat pad as I used the original backing material.
@Rebellescum4 жыл бұрын
thank you, i understand that reasoning. im thinking of using long curtains for the job. may i ask if a normal heavy duty staple gun would work? (i have used this to re upholster dining chair seats before with great success)
