Thanks. This helped. I didn't have to flip my battery, but I did leave it disconnected for a while. Once I reconnected the battery, I was prompted to pair the sensor. I'm guessing it must be a time thing, not necessarily that you have to flip the battery. In any case, thanks for the tip!!

Thanks you saved me a hassle! Sensor battery was dead, and I remembered that there was some obscure thing I needed to do to re-pair it and that it was buried deeeeeeep in the user manual. C'mon ecobee! - auto re-pair or tiny button like every other electronic device.

The label inside says battery goes + (plus side up). You say plus side goes down and install battery that way. Brilliant!!

Didn’t work for me. Tried it for 2 minutes (per the ecobee website), then 10 mins, multiple times. Brand new battery that I took out of the package. I unpaired it first, now it won’t detect. Any advice?

Remember to take the plastic wrapping and sticker of the battery. Have had a couple of people not do that. Also make sure you put the battery in with the correct polarity. Positive and negative should be in correct orientation inside the sensor.

@@deejayspillz I finally got mine to work. Remove the batteries from the sensor. Cycle power on the main ecobee unit and let it power back. On the sensor, place the battery upside down and leave over night. Next day flip the battery and plug in the cover. Take to your main unit and it should be detected. Worked for me. Good luck.

why would you want to put a sensor in the garage knowing summer will be very hot and winter will be very cold in there? The furnace will just run till it reaches that temperature. not a good idea.

That sensor is strictly for monitoring the garage temperature. It isn't used in any of thr profiles or averaged at all. I had an extra one so I just put it in there.
