How to re-tip a Snooker Cue?
Tools Required
Cutter with a sharp blade
Sand Paper with various grits
File to shape the tip
Super glue Gel
How to Determine the density of the tip - Soft, Medium, Hard
1. Scratch the tip with your nails very close to your ears to hear the sound.
2. Drop it on a wooden table to check the sound
3. Dig your nail into the tip to check the hardness
Tip Replacement process
Remove the old tip using a sharp cutter
Clean out the glue residue of the old tip using a file or cutter
Use paper tape around the Ferrel and the cue to avoid scratches
How to apply the new tip?
Step 1 - Sand the back of the tip in a circular motion to give it a smooth surface to glue it onto the cue
Step 2 - Apple glue on the Cue
Step 3 - Place the tip on the cue and keep it pressed for a couple of minutes
Step 4 - When the glue is set you can start trimming the tip
Step 5 - Using the file start shaping your tip in a up to down motion
Step 6 - Use a 1 cm wide sandpaper with a 320 grit carefully smoothen the edge of the tip to the ferrel
Step 7 - Use a tip shaper to give the shape you like
