Exactly they made it so annoying Chocobos weren't this complicated to navigate the world with in the OG FF7. On the Gongaga map it doesn't even indicate the mushroom spots only if u look at the mushrooms on the map art u can see them but you don't know what direction they send you in. I thought Cosmo Canyon Chocobo Flew this Gliding thing im not feeling in

From Grasslqnds to Corel, everything was fine for me and I had loads of fun exploring the maps. But Gongaga was not fun and Cosmo is in fact the 1st map where I needed a KZbin guide for locations. 😅 Choccobo gliding is NOT fun and this map design is not fun at all. My lowlight of each new map is that I know I will have to chase the darn moogle kids in an annoying minigame and the Prototype quest minigames suck big times too. Together with this bs map design, FF becomes a plain chore for me. 90+ reviews were clearly from non-completionist gamers. 😂

Honestly most of the cosmo canyon stuff was ok for me. It was mostly enjoyable trying to figure out where to go. The flatlands are so expansive and open, unlike the narrow paths and maze-like layout in Gongaga. But omg. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to get up high enough to reach this tower. I just kept missing the stairs at 0:59. Idk how many times I went past them. Thank you so much

Does this not encourage exploration though? I saw the glide point from down low and thought ‘that’s where I need to get to’. I couldn’t be bothered to figure it out for myself. Which is lazy of me. Put the point stands. It encourages you to actually play the game and explore. So many older games used to do this. And without the aid of mini maps and quest markers. And they were good. I think a lot of commenters on this video are lazy.

because it's a final fantasy, full of secrets, areas to discover and difficult to reach, if you're used to straight corridors it means you don't really know ff, it's called level design

At 2:22, I don’t think that air lift was there the first time you explore. You may have to progress the story because I’m quite sure I made that jump thinking the one on the ground will be the key to push me up. Maybe? 😅

Gongaga and Cosmo Canyon are hands down a negative experience to the game. Like objectively so. They were fine and would still be fine... if not for the convoluted aspects of it. Doesn't help that guides you find online about how to get to places essentially amount to a single sentence that says "fly there". Yeah, thanks assholes. This is why I use adblock.
