I own the obd1 code reader for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury. I just plug it into the test port under the hood of my 1992 Ford Tempo. It gives me a code number. I look up the code number in the thick book that came with the code reader and it said "cylinder 1 misfire." I bought mine at Walmart back in the day, but I still see them on ebay for $40. You had to buy separate obd1 code readers for each brand of vehicle you owned. I looked at reviews of the adapter cable that connects your obd1 port to your new obd2 code reader and tons of people in the comments said that they wasted money, because their's don't work.

What is code one the web site you linked and the Hans manual dose not have a 1 only 11 and up I’ve gotten 2 codes for a 1. From my understanding of this

My check engine light just stays on and doesn't flash I tried it several times. Unhooked the battery tested it again, tried with key turned forward first or hooking it up then turning the key forward nothing mattered...?

Maybe try a piece of wire or check the wiring at the service connector. It sounds like the pins aren’t talking to each other

@@GirlieGarage Thank you, I found out that it would not give a check code because the module itself was bad. The first test flash it does is a system check and if it cannot perform that the module is compromised. Thank you again for the response I appreciate the feedback and help...

With OBDII the codes are stored. I don’t know if OBDI stores the codes. Did you find an answer?

I have had 2 times a check engine light turns on but when the vehicle is turned off it never shows up again this just happens to me and the last one was like 2 months ago any idea of why??

The check engine light should turn off (with all the rest of the electrical) when you turn the vehicle off. If your engine is dieseling then you likely have a leaky fuel injector(s) or another larger problem related to ignition

Sounds like that generation of Ford Ranger only has rear ABS and it’s a pretty simple system so I would check the forums based on your symptoms

Yup, except on that era, theres usually two single plugs at the diagnostic port, one is the self test, one is the hood light wire. if you jumper the wrong one it cooks the self test circuit in the ECM.

Sounds like you might have blown an ignition fuse (or a fuse vital to the ignition). I would start with fuses

Here's what's confusing me about your instructions, maybe you can clear that up. 1,1, =11 1,1,=11 1,1,12345678=18👈 12345678,12345678=88 1,12345678,=18👈 12345678,12345678=88 ..How are they both 18 when the first eighteen starts with: 2 Ones ..followed by eight 1's ..and the Other Eighteen starts with: One 1 ..followed by eight 1's .. wouldn't that First 18 be 118? : 1,1, =11 ..then Eight 1's= 8 ..so, ..118? I mean, how can you come up with 18 for both of those two codes when they're different Codes?(👈) .. can you just take a minute to bring me up to speed on what's wrong with the way I'm interpreting the video? I'm a little bit slow, ..🤏
