Thanks, I like Volvo. I restored the same calipers in the same way more than 10 years ago and they still work fine today.

@@patricksgarage Great! I'm considering rebuilding the calipers in my 240 wagon. Looks not difficult.
@patricksgarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's not difficult. But the calipers must be clean during assembly. It is important to carefully clean the grooves in which the rubber rings work. Thanks for like and comment.

@@patricksgarage Yes. I imagine it's a time consuming process :). I already started restoring broken bleeder screws. 2 out of 3 were broken in the front calipers. Anyway, thanks for the great videos!

Thank you for the very helpful video. Do you know by chance if it’s possible to use 164 calipers on a 142s? Thank you
@patricksgarage2 жыл бұрын
May be... 140 and 160 both using inch threads in braking equipment. So, if you have calipers from 164, it's good! I never trying put calipers from 164. In any case, you need to check if they are interchangeable?🤔 I don't know for sure about this, I didn't put the caliper from 164 myself. It would be interesting to know about it.

Thank you for getting back so quickly! I jumped the gun and went ahead and ordered a set for my 142s. I’ll let you know how fitment is

A very useful video there Patrick. I am just about to repair a siezed caliper on my 144. One question though, what's the easiest way to get the pistons out?
@patricksgarage2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul! I pushed out all the pistons with the brake pedal little by little. But, this is only possible if the piston moves. If there is corrosion, it is better if the piston is turned with large pliers. If the piston can move in the cylinder, then it is easy to push it out. I only used the brake system to take it out. If rust, then you can soak it with kerosene. I've NEVER taken a caliper apart in two halves!!! You can press the piston into cylinder, it will move, and then press the pedal, and piston go out! In any case, it is better to use hydraulics than air. Push out all pistons at one time to maximum possible with brake pedal, use wood between pistons half inch thick, than take out pistons. If want using pistons at next time, than be careful with pistons. Thanks for watching.

I hope that line I see is not copper. Tell me it isn't.
@patricksgarage Жыл бұрын
It's copper pipe yes it's really so. I can't say you that copper line is not copper if it made out of copper. I don't care, I'm not driving like a maniac and hit the brake pedal so hard, thes lines never let me down, I can't say that they inappropriate fo me. Yes steel pipes more better for brake lines there's no arguing that, but here you see really copper line.
