Thanks!! I just replaced the fwd gear and dog because that was the diagnosis from the dealer service that wanted $800 for the repair. However the bike still will not stay in forward. I noticed the shift fork but did not know what a "good" condition one should look like. Guess I'm looking for a new shift fork and taking the bike apart again! Well done!!

That wonderful oil AGL, did not prevent the transmission from wearing out though. On Polaris forum, is mentioned a full synthetic 30 wt engine oil is ok for this, and Amsoil makes a transmission oil too.

How freely does the transmission turnover once it's rebuilt on the table and in gear? Got a 2007 Scrambler 4x4 and output shaft snapped, so I tore it down replaced shaft, bearings and seals. It just seems tight to turn, already made sure bearings are knocked on all the way. Any input will be helpful before installing trans.

my 2014 Ranger 400 not a year old and the transmission chatters and stops working under a load like backing or forward up a steep hill does it in all gears Im thinking maybe stretched chain and chain tensioner ,chain tensioner is on the very last notch and almost beyond

Maybe you can help me. I have a polaris xplorer 400. The machine will only engage into low range. If I try to shift into either reverse or hi, nothing happens.Any suggestions?

Just build up the fork and grind it smooth .

Build it up with what i was thinking about welding it but was told not to because it’s hardened steel
