Excellent video. Question: is it generally a good idea to sync the location for the synced images to a say, external hard-drive that has the capability for the amount of images? My desktop computer currently (Users/myname/Pictures) has been the "defaulted" location and am concerned about the amount of space it can absorb. Thanks.

I believe the best practice is that you keep all your images on an external drive, making sure these are backed up. This is where I would also keep your backup of Classic catalog

After clicking rebuild, do I just wait for my Lightroom to shut down or do I need to manually do it myself? I ask because I kept waiting for like an hour and Lightroom didn’t shut down and restart like it was mentioned in the video.

Question - What is the effect of deleting the blue line in sync acting? All of my lines are blue? Thank you!
@lightroommark9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question, deleting the line will delete the image/action, (download/upload) Only delete the lines with an ERROR on to unfreeze the sync

Thanks for this, though I still get the same error "Lightroom Classic encountered an error with the local sync database and needs to quit". I can't get rid of the message.

I'd love to see y'all explain the workflow when syncing collections from LRC (on your desktop with all your source images) to Lightroom (on your laptop for on-the-go editing) ... i've recently noticed that when I'm done with a project and unsync a collection, it actually just removes the folder in Lightroom, but all the images stay in Lightroom. So then I have to go in and remove all the images too. Is this the only way to do it? What am I missing? Is there a better workflow?

how do you delete that jam? I see something is "pending" but I didn't know how to delete it. its the only issue I'm having.
@lightroommark9 ай бұрын
Kick on the blue URL, it will take you to the "jam" delete that image/file.

Hello! I think this might fix my sync problems. I have 167 photos that are stuck. They show up are blue links as you mentioned and the location is my iPad. I used Lightroom mobile for a while on my iPad before switching to desktop and now Lightroom Classic. I deleted all the photos and uninstalled the mobile app on my iPad months ago so the photos do not exist anymore. Will this clear those photos that are stuck or will they just try again?
@lightroommark Жыл бұрын
This will clear any LOCAL errors, you may like to look at adobe.lightroom.com log into your account and see if there are any sync errors there too.

my lightroom isnt opening at all now, i get a 'tape' message on my desktop saying its syncing and .......nohting. have uninstalled and reinstalled Lr without success. any help would be great

should like you have an issue with the LrC catalogue not the sync database. One question comes to mind, have you backed up your catalogue, kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4XYi6aCa85-bassi=vpKR3s0NISBaMzR4

I'm having nothing but problems with it. I have tried everything, and I'm not sure why it's not syncing my photos from the last sync.

Very interesting piece of advice. I have been looking everywhere for an answer to the question: once I click "Rebuild sync data", how do I know that the rebuild process is running and how do I know when it's over. No one seems to know the answer, there is a lot of guessing in the community and zero answers from Adobe. You noted that when you click the button it says two things: 1. It may take a long time (my library is 258K images), and 2. Sync will be unavailable during the rebuild. You noted that clicking the "Rebuild sync data" restarts LrC and brings it back with sync paused. To me, that's an indication that "rebuild" is running. I once left it alone for 24 hours waiting for it to finish and reenable sync. It did not. You say: go ahead and resume sync. How do you know that this is the correct course of action? Are you not canceling/hampering the rebuild? Or does the "rebuild" amounts to just deleting the Sync.lrdata file, and the actual rebuilding starts when sync is reenabled? My sync is stuck without any errors or activities showing. It's just stuck with 9K+ errors photos left to go. I do rebuild, I do delete Sync.lrdata, I do restart LrC. It starts from my total number of files that are marked for synching through their respective collections, it runs down and it always gets stuck at a random high number and no visible errors or activity. I know that I need to contact Adobe, because the community seems to be out of its collective depth on this. I found your video and just wanted to ask why you believe clicking resume sync is the way to go after clicking "rebuild".
@lightroommark9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the question - Where you click the rebuild and LrC that's it done, but it sounds like you have some sync errors which may need to be deleted. I'm hosting a LIVE Sync Issues Zoom this Wednesday 1st of May, sign up for FREE at lightroom.support
