Great video- but be sure to soak the cork gaskets in oil for 24 hours prior to use. You can also press the oil in quickly by placing the cork o-ring on the tip of your finger, filling the center with oil, and pressing your finger over the top - to pressurize the oil until it seeps out the outer surface. 👍

Great video but you forgot something and that is to check wear in the spindle bushes other wise if worn air can be sucked in and may run a bit lean. At least it is not a 2 stroke otherwise blown pistons on full throttle. Very similar to how Amal and Early Mikuni carbs work on a bike. Such a simple carb to work on. Oh another thing..... Make sure the fuel line between the carbs is in perfect condition. On my TC the outer braiding looked perfect and clean but when I removed and re installed the inside hose had snapped like a carrot. 1st turn of the key abd fuel sprayed every where. Luckily motor was cold. Keep up the good work. Over here in Oz I drive in Summer with hood up as too hot and would get sunburnt in no time. Probably why not so many convertibles over here and the sun does havoc to upholstery. Ian

Hi Daniel Did you do a drop test to see if the pistons are matched to their correct suction chambers. "Living with a classic" kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnjEn5t7esh2eJo shows this very well. Also when you finally put the carbys on the manifold /motor etc and attach the choke cable make sure there is on tension on the choke cable --- also no tension on the choke actuator/ connector rod between the F and R carbys.---- otherwise the carbys will be a pain to balance especially the mixture because the jets will not be evenly positioned in each carby. The best way to balance the air intake is an old piece of garden hose ( say? 2 feet long) and listen to the sucking sound. ( University Motors kzbin.info/www/bejne/qqW1dqdtn9-nnq8 shows this well ) John Twist emphasises the importance of a loose choke connector rod at 12:55 in the video I am sure you know most of this but it doesnt hurt to emphasise good tuning techniques . Keep up the good work--- Your TC rebuild is coming along 100 percent fantastic ! "Safety Fast" from craig in Australia. 1969 MGB ---and series 2 E Type with SU HD8 carbys. And recently a 1951 MG TD

Hey Craig, thanks for this- I appreciate it! John T is an amazing help, certainly, and I will note the Choke cable tips. I could see how the actuator rod between them being too tight could bind up the actuation…. Good stuff 👍🏼
