Great video… but I wonder how you ensure concentrity? If the hole is oblong, can we assume that the bushing is going to be centred?

This video will explain how to re-find the original centre of a bushing in a clock plate: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q564mX6Ih9ynf5I

Many thanks Scottie - you do these videos with the same amount of detail and patience as required for the job at hand. It is a pleasure to watch, and I have learned a lot from these, but much to go. I am searching for the right tools for my own hobby work. I guess the dollar outlay would correspond to the commitment. Do you have a previous vid which mentions the best reamer and broacher kit (and perhaps the ok kit for the novice)? I'm not too seriously infused, but I can feel myself sliding into it.

Hi Scotty. I’m just about to try bushing for the first time and I was wondering do you use cutting or smoothing broaches to size the pivot hole? Also is it recommended to bush the holes on both plates of a pivot or only the one that is worn? Thanks for the very helpful videos.

@gordonhack5212, Use cutting broaches to open up a bushing, the smoothing broaches are used to burnish (work harden) the bushing once it is the correct size for the pivot. I always do bushings in pairs, if one needs replacing then the other one will need doing sooner or later. It is considered poor workmanship not to finish the job completely.

@@ScottiesClockWorld Thanks for the reply. I thought best practice would be to do both bushes but I think it’s always best to check with an expert. I’ll order some smoothing broaches. Thanks Scotty!

Thanks for the video. You don't need to add background music, though.

Great job. Always makes a person happy when it the wheel spins freely like that afterwards.
