Does the Sennheiser Ambeo have to stay static on a stand or can it work effectively in a hand held grip of some sort? I noticed it being used in your car which suggests hand held would be fine.

I am a newbie to the world of sound and would be grateful if you could answer a question: I record video on my Sony A7iii of streams and rivers and want to add very high quality sound to the video. I can't figure out the equipment I need to accomplish this result. I could use a RODE Stereo VideoMic X which seems to be the simplest answer but many people seem to attach Zoom F6 devices to their camera along with mics and other equipment. What kind of configuration or equipment would you suggest buying if I want to add very high quality sound to my videos of streams and rivers ? Is the Zoom F6 the right tool for the job? Is the Sennheiser AMBEO VR Mic the right tool for the job? Is there a way to feed the audio into the camera from these devices while it is recording so I can avoid adding it in post?

We currently use the FB360 Spatial Audio Workstation (which works with either Pro Tools or Reaper), but there are other options available. Do you record to a single quad file or 4 separate mono files. How do you then mix them with the plug in?

Andrew Jarrett I record as a single quad (.wav poly) file. I then use the free Ambeo A-B converter to create a B-Format quad file. You can then use your decoding software of choice to fold it into the mix. Using the SurroundZone2 plugin, you can export to any format (mono, stereo, 5.1, 7.1). When working in 360, I use the FB360 software to add it to the environment.

The Zoom F8 will record mono files or to multtrack files. I generally use the latter because they're much easier to assemble end to end in a DAW, before splitting the files into individual tracks. There's no difference in quality. The F8 has a size limit of 2 GB or 4 GB, at which time it closes one file and opens another. The junction has no gap or discontinuity.
