Thank you, sir! I bought my brother a West African djembe a couple weeks ago and wanted to see that his playing shines more so I will share this video with him for consideration. Thank you.

Thanks from New Mexico, USA! This was very helpful. I've struggled with making the bass on my djembe recordings shine, and I will now be looking at getting a bass drum microphone!

I just started playing djembe and this was very helpful. Since I'm only using one mic in a large bright room I'm using the bass location but a bit farther away.

This is great! Thank you from Toronto Canada. I have a choice of a few microphones including a Shure SM57 and a Warm Audio WA47jr. I really want to pick up some low end from my djembe. Now I know where to place the microphone or microphones. I might try using 2 of them. You have a nice looking studio, too. I'm subscribing. I like your tutorials.

Last Christmas I got a djembe for a present. Something I have never asked for, and never dreamed to have. Anyway, since it's here with me in Indonesia, I thought why not learn to beat the beat out of this shit, and thought of some tune that would match with a classical guitar, acoustic bass, cello, and several acoustic "disturbers" like kalimba, kashaka, etc. I don't have mics you have, I record at home, but it so happened that I have a wonderful bass microphone from my SD Systems mic+pickup+mixer double-bass set, and a good quality condenser for my podcasts. Bass mic goes at the bottom, condenser on top, and it makes music! Thank you for advice where the sound comes out best, and how to put everything together to get some interesting sound.

@@milestonestudioscapetown I'm still grumpy for they didn't get me what I really needed (for less money), but my djembe is very neat and comes from an unusual high brand. I had no idea about the instrument, but I found 8 interesting sounds, I can find a kind of three "semitone apart" tones that can make a kind-of-melody, and I enjoy playing it slightly more day by day. Don't tell anybody! I'm a string player! Thank you for the tutorial. Greetings from Indonesia 🙏 P.S. it's funny that one drum membrane nearly covers for a simple drum set in a simple acoustic arrangement. How they invented it, I don't know.

I don't have money to buy microphones and I use my phone to record my Djembe and it sounds amazing on its own. After equalizing, compressing and adding some reverb it sounds professional as fuqh.
