I had the same problem. But I did manage to recover my files because I had one drive and auto save enabled. Sign in to your Microsoft onedrive and find your file. Once found, open your file. My file was automatically recovered, but you still have the corrupted word file in your computer so download from onedrive to your computer. If you decide to download the file make sure to enable auto save once again. If you do not have one drive or auto save enabled my help might not help you.

My Auto Recovery folder had nothing in it but I did manage to find another way to recover my files because I had one drive and auto save enabled. If you have one drive and auto save enabled before losing your file this might help you. (I have to add that my word file corrupted after my pc crashed) Sign in to your Microsoft onedrive and find your file. Once found, open your file. Did you check different locations shown in video? You can try some file recovery software and try to search for files with. asd and. Doc/docx (depending on your word version) extension in last saved location and Words default location. This may be helpful. Wishing you best luck.

Task manager is used to forcibly close Ms Word without saving word document. The shortcut used to get Task Manager is CTRL+ALT+DEL.

Then you may need to use file recovery software. Please see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIGbZquvrt2hbaM, and instead of saved over file you need to search for original file extension. This may require connecting mobile to pc or you may need install some file recovery app. Note that chances of recovering doc decreases with time after deletion. Best of luck.
