This is awesome. After reading the comments I learn it is not safe. I understand not everyone has money to just go buy another one, which is what Americans do. I have seen similar videos of people taking items and salvaging and repurposing them. I am impressed with human ingenuity and give this guy a thumbs up. It may have been his only option for cooking. Ever eat uncooked ramen or rice? I had some years I was very poor and if my only method of cooking was gone I couldn't have just bought a new one. Thankfully I could today even though my income is still below the poverty level.

Much better if you added a thermal fuse in case of over heating,afterward even the base is heated also it might be risk to the wire connected it melt, and ground attatch to base of your device for safety..!.

Used a similar trick for almost a year when I was working far from home and so far it was good although you can't really control the heat. Just directly wired a plug to the plate then let it sat on three small concrete cylinders. Did not experienced any grounding issues at all. Make sure to use thick wires though as it would get really hot that wires directly attached to the plate might get toasted and you'll end up rewiring it from time to time. Served me well until we were done working on that place.

This video isnt safe, they didn't put any disclaimer. One thing wrong and your house goes boom. A kid followed a tutorial once on how to make popcorns with a soda can. Because they didn't do the steps right, they died because of a very bad case of skin burn.

Still needs a lot of improvement especially in terms of wiring and power regulation. Yes, I agree more. First the safety issue. Next is the durability issue. The heating plate when reach it's maximum heat tolerance, has a tendency to break and when too much weight is put on it , it will also damage the plate.
