My mirror fell off and I had it taped on for a few months an tape finally tore due to the cold weather. I'm so glad I searched and found your video. Very easy to follow instructions. Since the car is so old, I thought a clip might have been broken off, but it was not. This was so easy. It took me a couple of tries, but snapped right in.

Great video. My spring went flying 5 meters away, I was lucky to find it. Only other problem was that the rectangular plastic cover over the wire connections popped off and it doesn’t want to go back.

you have to google and look thru like 3 or 4 of these side mirror mercedes mirror video to figure out completely how to take it off and put a new one in when the auto dimming goes dark on your drivers side like they all do with age, this one finally shows you how to put it back on correctly , the others only show you how to take the glass off and not properly put the spring back on right way LOL

Great video, thanks. Thanks also to the responder who said there should be 2 clamps! Does it matter which way around the wires are connected? Also, my clamps (that came with a replacement kit) are not curved around like that - they tend to point back away from the centre. My mirror is now graunching and binding with remote control movement, and I'm wondering if the ends of the clamps are touching the interior of the housing?

success put the new glass replacement in my 200e drivers side e500 successfully , to all DIY make sure you put painters tape around the side mirror to ensure no paint scratches when you take the unit out FYI and plan it carfully ahead of time like a skier skiing down a race hill to make sure you dont break anything

Hi, how do I fix the folding mechanism on the same model? I can hear power when I push the open and close buttons in the cockpit. but the mirrors do not close.

well I finally got the nerve to figured out after like 15 minutes how to get the mirror off the 2004 e500 drivers side, another 10 minutes to get the heating wires plug off, then put it on the new glass auto dimmer mirror replacement , but now too hot outside and gave up on finding the exact alginment to snap it back in place like this video , try another day , getting it off without breaking anyone was hard worst due to my poor eye sight close up vision didnt break anything yet and now what was supposed to be the easy part snapping it back in place to tired to continue today, wait for another day when I have the patience to find those align holes to clip it in like this video, not sure if I need to runt he motor of the side mirror to make it looking down and towards the rear tire when snapping it in or straight forward then tilt the mirror down and face rear tire to then put that clip in to lock it again, turns out taking it off and putting in on are both not that easy even though this video makes it look easy , thats for the experts that know how to do this all the time tomorrow maybe I will make another try and putting it in , but when I do I saved myself probably $1,000 of dealer costs going there IMHO and only spend $120 to replace it myself since a new auto dim glass is between $ 375 to $ 650 depending on what dealer is trying to sell them and what age they are on the shelf and then they will charge you $260 to install it with taxes the dealer will charge the highest price for the part and you end up $1,000 to replace the drivers auto dim mirror LOL

You are missing a big lip on youre glass, One has broken off, thats why its comming off😅

You are correct. There should be *two* metal tabs on the mirror glass that he is installing, but it is missing one (i.e., he lost/forgot the tab that should fit into the slot towards the right-end of the mirror)... He should have also cleaned the old electrical connectors with contact cleaner first before reconnecting them, used automotive masking tape around the inner lip of the mirror housing to avoid damaging the clearcoat and paint prior to working on the mirror glass, and worn gloves and/or cleaned the mirror glass afterwards to get rid of the smudges. Slipshod work. Most KZbin instructional videos on car repairs are incomplete, unprofessional, flawed, or simply wrong. Instructions on mirror removal would have also been helpful to viewers.
