4:59 Battery Part Number. From what I have found out, the Battery Part Number has 11 digits. There are so many batteries that have the "base" 000 915 105 number; its the last two characters DG, DL, etc that determine the battery capacity. A DG has a capacity of 72 Ah and a DL has a capacity of 110 Ah. And if you do not enter spaces, something like a 000915105CF should fit. I have not tried this yet. What iCarsoft really needs is an iCarsoft Forum so we can clarify issues and problems.

I replaced the battery about a month ago on my 14 c2s for the first time,and the only thing i did was plug in the ctek to the cigarette lighter port while i moved and replaced it just to keep the system alive. So far I haven't encountered any problems at all. On my 06 cayenne s, I replaced the battery even without using any outside power sourse to maintain the car memory and it had no problems at all.

Hi John, thanks for this - I'm just about to do the same DIY battery swap on my 13 C4S and was wondering how to keep the car alive during the swap. Could I ask, what model Ctek did you use (I use an Ctek MXS 5.0 tender for day to day) and how did you code the new battery to the vehicle? I'm hoping to use my Foxwell NT530. Porsche scanner for this. Many thanks, Mark
@johnwhodat81357 ай бұрын
@@markdavis911time ...hi Mark. Mine is MSX 5.0 as far as the battery goes it's a AGM (absorbent glass mat) battery. Got it from a Walmart 850 ccm. It's a slightly larger battery, it fits on battery tray no problem,and those AGMs have a life span of approximately 7 yrs. And that's all I did, I didn't register the battery or anything. Plugged the cteck to the cigarette lighter plug and replaced the battery and that was it. I haven't encountered anything unusual yet.

@@johnwhodat8135 Hi John, thanks for the reply and additional info. I was thinking I'd need to buy a different CTek, as the MXS 5 wasn't advertised with a supply function but if you've done it without losing any settings then that saves me some more. I guess without the ignition on, it's only powering the basics. Thanks so much! Regards, Mark

I have a 2014 991. bought new, still original battery. I just saw a video where they put the car on a porsche battery tender before performing the work, in order to retain the memory. (Makes total sense to me) In that particular case they installed a physically larger battery. They did not re-code the car. I just purchased the iCarsoft tool for resetting my oil service reminder light and now will use soon the battery code function on that device. 1.In your opinion is is ok to put the tender on the car for memory retention? . 2.Always re-code the car at battery replacement? In you video only part that can get confusing is getting the correct data off the battery. Otherwise thanks.

Hi, I did not keep power via a battery tender when replacing the battery since I was doing correctly by registering the battery itself. The numbers can get confusing but the computer will only take the correct numbers which are in a certain format so you can’t get it wrong. Finally, a review that does more than just show me what all the icons on the screen do and there are countless of those reviews on KZbin. I wanted to see a battery registration in a Porsche and it looks like you can actually enter a 2 or 3 digit Ah number instead of some scanners where they list some Ah numbers and you pick one that is closest to your actual replacement battery. Now it would be nice to see an ABS Bleed by turning on the ABS pump and listening for it. You should be able to do that without doing an actual bleed. I've done so on my BMW motorcycle. Also, is this a bi-directional diagnostic tool; one where you can activate windows, EVAP valves, etc.
@DriversTherapy2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the compliment on the video. I am not 100% update on all of the features, but you can reach out to the company themselves or ask Jon at Flat6Motorsports. I assume this is bi-directional scan tool since I was able to read and input date with it. It has been over a month since I updated and replaced my battery on my GT4, and the car is running great.

@@DriversTherapy Well I have to do a brake fluid flush on my 991.1 GTS and as far as I am concerned, it is not complete without doing a ABS brake bleed to activate the ABS pump. At the same time I'll also flush the clutch fluid since it feeds back into the reservoir. I sent Flat6 an email about the iCarsoft CR Max. It is not listed on their web site. Did a similar flush on my BMW R1200 GSA LC and activated the ABS pump.
@DriversTherapy2 жыл бұрын
@@a.c.e.7568 I agree about the ABS flush. Typically you have auto activate the ABS to completely flush out the fluid. I recently found a link the Porsche service manual for my GT4 which had been a big help in verifying service procedures. If the scan tool is able to accomplish that it certainly would add to its usefulness for those who do their own services.

@@DriversTherapy My moto "nobody touches my cars, motorcycles and if I had one, my aircraft" if you are ultra-picky about maintenance. I came across "Roudter" on KZbin and he has a series of videos about OBD2. "OBD2: The Bi-Directional Myth (Software Design)". A series of great video if you are into that kind of stuff. I just wish I had his level of software experience instead of my experience as an electronics technologist. I was watching a LAUNCH X431 Pro Mini video where the owner increased his memory in the unit "Launch X431 Automotive Scan Tool Memory Storage Upgrade" on KZbin. He took the scanner apart and it was nothing but a Lenovo tablet in a rubber shield, and that got me to thinking it was the Bluetooth OBD-II that did all the diagnosing and interfacing between the vehicle and the software on the tablet. I have the Porsche Factory Service Manuals, about 9 binders for my 1995 911 (993). Always nice to have the right info. The Porsche 991 PDF manual with 8256 pages is getting a bit crazy though. Hell it was easier working on aircraft.

@@a.c.e.7568 I totally understand about not wanting someone else to work on their cars. I try hard to find a really good technician but it’s hard so I do all my work. If I did find one, I would slowly trust them as I watch them the whole time the slowly give them space as trust grows. Coming from doing a lot of work with Toyota and using their service manuals, Porsche really disappoints me with their manuals. I assume they did that intentionally.

Are you sure you do not have an AGM battery in that 2016 GT4? My 2015 991.1 GTS came factory equipped with a BANNER AGM as the standard battery. Looking at the video, I see a battery vent hose on both the old and new battery, so that would make it a Flooded Lead Acid battery aka WET. Strange, why would Porsche install an AGM in mine and not in yours? Unless of course the old and new battery were not originally installed by Porsche at the factory. I noted the one you removed was an Exide battery likely made in the US and sold by the VW group. There is a guy that knows how to remove battery terminials in the correct order - remove the negative first and install it last to prevent shorts.
