This is excellent, I've been using 2 12x12's as a carport and one collapsed under a little snow, only when I went to go try and knock the snow off 😭 it failed/buckled in those spots so this oughta do the trick til I get a more permanent solution/project going. Great video, thank you! ❤️

@@alittlelessdumber2587 so after a week of British rain and wind the gazeebo is still standing strong. Which is important for me as I use the gazeebo to deliver 1-2-1 Pt sessions out of the rain since all the gyms are closed here. Thanks again you’ve really helped me out and saved me a lot of money.

@@alittlelessdumber2587 Hey, I did this as soon as I got my gazebo yesterday..I took my time and cut and drilled the holes and attached it all to my gazebo canopy frame just like you showed in your awesome video👍 I also used 4> heavy duty 6 ft t posts/fence posts and fastened each of the 4 legs to them with electrical ties to reinforce the slim legs and make sure it don’t blow over as it s very windy here..I did this all while my hubby was at work and he was amazed at how sturdy my cheap lil eBay screened gazebo is now👍😁THANK YOU for sharing your info👍🙌🏻🙌🏻 😊

Beautiful work, but it's too bad you have to practically rebuild the canopy to get it to work right!

Thank you so much for sharing your video. I have a couple of questions. The reinforcements you used going to the top of the canopy, was there already an existing structure and if not how did you hook them all together at the top? Was there any drilling of holes made to attach those zip ties? Also, the galvanized pipe that you ran around the structure how did you attach those together. Thank you
@alittlelessdumber2587
@alittlelessdumber2587 2 жыл бұрын
The reinforcements are pieces of PVC pipe. I drilled holes near the end of the pipes and attached to the frame using zip ties. They are attached to the frame structure at both ends of the pvc pipe. The 4 sections of galvanized pipe are just simply zip tied to the frame to add rigidity. No holes were drilled into the galvanized pipes. Hope this helps.

Can you leave a popup gazebo out permanently if it’s reinforced like you’ve done?
@alittlelessdumber2587
@alittlelessdumber2587 7 сағат бұрын
You can but the fabric will eventually deteriorate. A commercial grade canopy with thicker fabric will last longer.

There's got to be a better way to strengthen a gazebo or canopy. The frame is kind of weak, very thin gauge steel and support for roof os the same. The only thing I can think of is adding 1 1/2" square steel tubing around the frame, essentially attaching a 10' x 10' square around the top. Just 2 bolts per side....as far as the roof, I'm still thinking. Regardless, very good video. Thanks.
@alittlelessdumber2587
@alittlelessdumber2587 3 жыл бұрын
You’re right. In most canopies the frame just isn’t very thick metal. That’s why I use the metal conduit, to add rigidity. The fact is, most of these canopies are simply not designed to be left out all the time. They are meant for occasional use. Even if the frame is strengthened, the fabric will fail due to the elements (sun, rain, wind) eventually.

@@alittlelessdumber2587 Agreed. I paid about $260 for mine and hope it holds for 2 years. It will be removed in winter. Usually i can figure out most things mechanical or electrical but surprisingly, there are hardly any ideas other than yours for making these stronger. Havent others done something??? I was thinking of adding conduit. What id like to do, in addition to the conduit, is add verticle supports, 1 in each corner, from ground up to the horizontal coduit you showed everyone. Not sure how much stronger that would be. Perhaps the best thing might be to add "x" bracing on each wall, except for entrace side. So essentially, youd have three 6' high x 10' wide x's, assuming 10x10 gazebo.
@richardl3720
@richardl3720 3 жыл бұрын
@@alittlelessdumber2587 Did you ever consider getting cable, perhaps 3/16 or so and criss crossing it on each side except entrance? SO, you'd essentially have 3 big X's on 3 walls. Just surprised there's so little info on this.

@@richardl3720 that’s not really an option for ours because we use it as a shade spot on a deck by the pool. People need to travel through 3 sides.

Is the gazebo still kicking it? My dad bought a gazebo yesterday and ive already managed to break it due to wind. This is probably our 6th gazebo now. I need to try to reinforce them somehow because this is getting ridiculous lol. I can keep pulling the tops off but its such a pain in the butt.
@alittlelessdumber2587

It was working great but this Spring we decided to close that deck in with a permanent structure using 6x6 posts, pressure treated plywood roof deck and metal roofing, electrical for lighting & ceiling fan, etc. Its basically an outdoor room now. So the canopy has been retired. However I did save the conduit and pvc in case we ever want to use a canopy somewhere else.

I had a canopy frame bend on me due to strong winds at the river last year. I had it anchored down really good so it wasn’t going nowhere but it ended up bending and breaking. Will those zip tie metal poles help reinforce and keep the frame from bending ?
@alittlelessdumber2587
@alittlelessdumber2587 3 жыл бұрын
The metal poles prevent too much flexing. So yes they certainly will help. But of course if the wind/storm is too strong the canopy could still fail. Mine has weathered some pretty severe storms and has been just fine.
@alittlelessdumber2587
@alittlelessdumber2587 3 жыл бұрын
@@Chugwater_Cowboy actually the conduit and zip ties work great. Have you tried it? If not, you should. The conduit prevents too much flex especially in strong wind/rain. The end of the conduit can be secured at the ends to the portion of the horizontal frame that are supported by the legs.
@richardl3720
@richardl3720 3 жыл бұрын
@@Chugwater_Cowboy actually, screws or rivets sometimes makes things worse because you take out all the play and flex. Zip ties, on the other hand, allow flex and some give which is less harsh on the entire unit.
