Fyi, the thin metal bar you're using across the door looks like a "tension bar" used on chain link fences in case anyone is shopping for one.

dogboy, it is very similar to that and I think the chain link thing would work. The only difference is that the chai link thing is galvanized and the price I used is found with the bar stock and angle irons in Home Depot.

Good idea! I may modify a little off your idea but I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to reinforce the door that my dog pounces against. He's already bent all the stock hardware so I can't even keep the door closed any more lol

Hey I just wanted to say "thank you"! Your method stopped our Anatolian shepherd from escaping her crate! We had gone through, no joke, 4 crates! Your method saved our sanity! For those curious, I went to Lowes and got a 1"x36"x.25" flat steel bar and it worked perfectly! Thank you so much!
